My d feels the same way about the jazz concentration. She is excited to be accepted for dance and we liked the school and Pittsburgh. Good luck and welcome to CC!

Mel's Mom --

Thanks so much for your kind reply.

I guess I should clarify what I mean about "too late." What I mean is that most schools tend to accept -- and give the most financial aid - to the students who apply earliest. The later one applies, the less likely you are to be admitted - or receive financial aid/scholarships.

If DD doesn't audition until Feb (or March - the way things are going!), what are her chances?

Does anyone know how many dance/jazz students PP accepts?

Do they allow you to just use sheet music at the audition?

PPU is so fast, they've already admitted me academically, sent me a financial aid package, AND assigned me an academic counselor who regularly e-mails me! I've never heard of a university being so welcoming SO SOON after an application is submitted, and I must say, it's really nice. I'm looking for to visiting the campus next month for my audition.

samia525-
Please go to the thread for acceptances and add yours, and congrats!!!

believersmom - I'll add my MT acceptances to that list, but since this is just an academic acceptance from PPU, I don't really count it. I won't go there for academics, you know?

Bumping up

Does Point Park have a dance audition at its regional (off campus) auditions, does anyone know?

Yes, in NYC last year they did. In fact it was very different than any of the other dance auditions my D did last year. I think it was more of a latin flair, if I remember correctly. Not your typical MT type dancing. She felt out of place.

chrism,
check my post #61 above for the regional dance audition.

Thanks, but I should have made clear I meant the regional MT audition, and the dance portion of the MT audition - not the audition FOR the dance program!

Latin flair??? I remember my daughter saying that at the Hartt audition at the unifieds last year she felt as if she was being asked to do hip hop - not at all her style and a big surprise!

---------------------------------------------------------------------Chrism: I found my post from last year for the Point Park audition - Here's what I wrote:

My D auditioned on Sunday for Point Park in NYC. They didn't give any kind of a talk out loud to either the parents or the students. We walked in, signed up and sort of sat around on the main floor of the Alvin Ailey Dance Studio waiting for instructions. Eventually, we saw some people had numbers, so my D went and got a number. It's weird because they didn't hand them out in the order of arrival, but just whenever you walked up to get one! I guess it didn't really matter because after all 33 or so kids did their 1 song and monologue, then they all went to the dance portion. (By the way, the audition papers said 32 bars of one song; because there were so many people auditioning, they decided the kids could only sing 16!) The dance portion was very different for my D because it sounds like they did Salsa dancing and some other modern dance moves. She said she kept smiling, though, the whole time! She said many of the others looked kind of lost, too. The only other info. to report is that the man who was walking around organizing things said that they used to take 60 in their program and now they take around 40. That seemed like a lot to me. I didn't realize they took that many.

a little delayed but congrats to eric!! I can't wait to here about all the acceptances from the ocu summer program.

My son has happily been accepted into PPU's musical theater program with a very generous talent scholarship. He will be accepting and will not be auditioning anywhere else as this school fits him perfectly. It's a relief to be all done -- except for re-taking SAT II and ACT to possibly better his chance of getting some type of academic scholarship as well. PPU is very generous with all their scholarships!

Congratulations. How wonderful to have that acceptance and be all set going into the holidays. Best of luck to you.

MICHAELSMOM,

Congratulations!! I'm sure you are so relieved to have this whole process over with already! Best of luck to your s!!!

If you don't mind my asking, when was his audition date?

Congratulations Michaelsmom and, Michael, I assume!

Yay, congratulations michaelsmom!

Heavy sigh of relief!! Congrats!!!
