Hello everyone! I haven't been able to find this on the UCSD website so I figured it would be a good idea to ask here. I'm going to be a first year Political Science major this upcoming fall and I was wondering if anyone could tell me their first year schedule for the sake of planning purposes.

I'm in Eleanor Roosevelt College and I know that Making of the Modern World is a GE requirement, but what are the classes I'll need to take for my major in my first year? Thank you for your time :)

i sent you a message, check your inbox

I’m an ERC poli sci major too! Take poli 10 especially if Professor Galderisi is teaching the class. It’s a really easy class, and a great introduction into political science you first quarter. My first quarter schedule was MMW, Poli 10, a quantitative and formal skills course (mine were CSE 3 and Poli 30) and a regional specialization. Take poli 30 with Kousser if you can. He is a great professor, but take this class after your first quarter. For you lower division courses you pick three courses depending on your specialization out of poli 10 (american), 11(comparative), 12 (international), 13 (theory) and then you must take poli 30 (stats). I took poli 10 first quarter, 11 and 30 second quarter, and 13 third quarter and now I’m done with lower divs.

nicholep, THANK YOU so much for your schedule! (Sorry for the delayed reply, I went on vacation day after I posted.) That was exactly what I was looking for in terms of planning purposes. Can I also ask another question? How many units would you recommend I take for each quarter my freshman year?

Sorta off topic, but can someone send a sample mechanical engineering schedule for first year? I’m in Revelle

@wonderva, here is a link to the Revelle four year plan tool. You just fill in your information in the drop down menus and it gives you a sample schedule for the next four years.

I would take either 12-16 units (3-4 classes). My first quarter I took 16 units and I didn’t feel overwhelmed. I’d say that you should sign up for 4 classes and if it too much/ you really hate on of the classes you have a few weeks to drop without a W. You only have one week to add classes. Second quarter I took 18 unites (still 4 classes) because MMW 12 is 6 units, and again I did not feel overwhelmed. Spring Quarter I took 19 units (4 classes) MMW 13 (6 units) and French (5 units). Also, for the ERC art requirements I recommend taking a film class that meets once a week for 3 hours at night. They are generally very easy, the free up your schedule, and there is very little hw. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me anymore questions

nicholep, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You’re a real help! I really have an idea of what classes/how many classes to take now thanks to you. It’s so appreciated!
