I see political science as a major i would thoroughly enjoy and may take in college. but i want to become a lawyer after undergraduate. if im able to keep a 3.6+ with great LSATs could i get in a good school like UNC or Duke? im confident in my ability to perform to this standard (im in the 90th+ percentile on EOG testing for my homeschool grade level in the state) but in the long run, could i get a high paying job with a JD?

There is a significant difference in selectivity between Duke Law and UNC Law. Aim for a 165+ on the LSAT if you’re shooting for Duke (preferably a 170+).

Polisci is fine if you can keep your GPA up. I generally recommend undergrads to double major or minor in something that provides you skills. Duke is a tough law school to get into, and if for some reason you don’t do well on the LSAT you want a viable backup plan. A double major or minor in something you can sell to employers is a good backup.

Are you a NC resident?

You can definitely go to law school with that major, but perhaps a better question is are you sure it is what you want to do? There is a significant portion of the population that may be underemployed, and while the high paying lawyer positions are out there, they are competitive and far and in between. Have a plan before you go through with it because coming out of law school with debt and not being able to find employment to pay back those bills may be tough. Good luck!

@catria yes.
