A lot of schools won’t send additional grades. If your school doesn’t perhaps they can send a note to that effect. If your grades aren’t ready to send, the school maybe can send a message to Pomona to that effect on your behalf.
@gnowr35 IKR? I can tell we are all so excited about this school! We have a similar amount of threads as other Universities but way fewer applicants, so half of the ED pool must be on this forum, haha!
@NebbyBag No need to worry. My school is semester based and does not have Q1 marks either. My counsellor just got all my current grades from my teachers and sent them in an email. Super casual and no official transcripts or anything like that. Just as your counsellor what to do.
Thanks for the responses. However, the thing is, my counselor didn’t even receive an email requesting my grades. Should I still reach out to Pomona?
So nervous for Friday! I’m sure that my friends are sick of hearing the word “Pomona” since I keep talking to them about how stressed I am! Also, I’m currently in France (though originally from PA), so if they release the results at 5pm Pacific Time, then I won’t find out until 2am on the 9th.
@NebbyBag Yes! If it appears on your portal then Pomona wants it!
From my guess, your regional counsellor emails your counsellor personally so it could be that he/she is so busy that he/she didn’t have time to send it to your counsellor yet.
They don’t have a lot of time to read the apps once the grades come in, so it is better to be safe than sorry and complete your app asap.
Also, has anyone’s portal still says awaiting Q1 marks after your counsellor has sent them? It is probably just taking a while for it to process.
It seems like this year everyone has a grade request in… Mine finally showed up on the portal too… Has anybody not gotten a request?
When you all get your decision, can you give the specifics to how you got the request?
Did you only see it on the portal (seems like everyone did, which is new), or did your counselor get a personal email, or other?
People look to the threads for future reference so it’ll help.
what do you think the grade request means?
I know that some people got their grades requested last week… does that mean that those asked for today are for on the fence applicants and the those asked for last week are for people who are definitely in?
^^no don’t read too much into it. Last week’s students maybe got their apps read first because everything was in or alphabetically they came first. Likely no difference between last week students who got asked and this week’s. Good Luck.
@ztarik Really? There are people who got requested for their Q1 grades last week?
So since it has been confirmed that decisions are coming out on Friday, does this mean that we should expect them Friday (December 8th) 5pm PST?
@mtyk45 Yeah, that should be when the decisions come out.
@ztarik How many people have you heard of that got requests last week?
I also just got my request and I’m super confused. My school runs on the semester system and I have a class that will be on my semester grade but isn’t on my high school progress reports which both lowers my GPA and makes it look like I’m taking fewer classes. And I have two classes which are graded based on improvement, so my grades aren’t actually the percentages I have in those classes. What do I do?!
@zatarik I wouldn’t read too much into it…

Help!!! I have a very weird situation here.
So I did the Coalition App and weirdly, Pomona automatically requests Q1 grades on there. I invited my counselor to Coalition to input everything she had to do. This was around October and because of Hurricane Harvey, school was canceled for 2 weeks and everything got delayed. I didn’t think much about it since it already happened when I invited her to send in my grades and transcript(my school runs by semesters made up of 3 6 weeks, I thought that because of the hurricane, I wouldn’t even have my first 6 weeks grades in), but now I realized that I totally forgot to include in my Coalition app that I was affected by Hurricane Harvey and now I realize that they do have whatever my counselor sent them since there’s a new green check mark on the Q1 grades on my application list. When I did my app, I didn’t think of mentioning it since it wouldn’t do anything because my house wasn’t flooded, but I forgot that because Hurricane Harvey occurred, all my classes had to speed up and catch up to stay on track for the AP exam. The material was very rushed through and my grades were below what I usually get in AP Euro and AP Calc (2 low B’s out of my 4 AP classes ) . I just realized everything today since everyone’s talking about Q1 grades again and all the requests!
What should I do??? I don’t think I can rely on my counselor this time to help me since she’s unavailable. Sorry if this post was a bit worded messy.
hello guys. so my counselor uploaded the mid-year report (Q1 grades) on commonapp this afternoon, but in my portal it still says “awaiting.” does it usually take a while for the portal to update?
@IllIlllIIllllll i feel like it might be a lil late to tell them now, but I don’t think two B’s will hurt your chances that much!
I’m sure that in your counsellor’s recommendation they mentioned the effect that Hurricane Harvey had on your school and therefore your classes. Don’t worry too much about it
