Popular college clothing.

Then again many fashion lines and retailers are happily selling pieces of clothing that exhibit non-conformity at its finest. First it was 'strategically' distressed and ripped jeans, then jeans with paint splashed over them, and now we have jeans with huge patches or huge holes or crystals in them. Where to next? I don't know. But if anything is certain buying jeans for the majority of college students will come at a price- books or jeans this semester. The choice is up to each person.

lol ... books or jeans?
seems like a tough decision :)

Just wear what you like and screw everyone else, its what I did.

don't you have anything better to worry about?

There's nothing wrong with the post... as much as we all want and try to be individuals/unique and blah blah blah... we still want to fit in. It's human nature.

Says the girl who loves: Urban Outfitters, Gap, Banana Republic, J. Crew, and North Face

LOL I almost started choking when I read the post about the staples everyone must have. C&C tees, Sevens, and Paper Denim & Cloth?! Mmmmm...most people in college don't have a credit card with no limit designated for shopping sprees. Sevens cost about $150, and C&C (just plain t-shirts in a bunch of colors) cost $40 and up.

It's sooo easy to go out and buy clothes like that at the beginning of the year when your parents feel sorry for you and pay. But it gets a lot harder when you're working part time during the year and realize that one pair of jeans= a week of work.

At least, that's what happened to me!

do people even care in college?! O_o

That is why I said a lot of people might the following choice- books or jeans. Of course, it's an exaggeration, but it drives home the point.

Screw all the people who think this post is silly. Go away and leave the rest of us to our chatting! Grrr...

I'm kind of interested in this post. I don't shop a lot, and when I do it's Kohls, baby! So this has to change, because I don't really know about the state of Kohl'ses in Memphis. Does anyone have any recommendations of clothing stores that are not too trendy and not too expensive? $150 for a pair of jeans would cause me to faint.

I've always found the GAP to be good for basics.

just go to the sales section...it always has good brands

get a life. if you don't have anything better to do than bash a fine topic on cc then thats your problem.

to everyone else- thanks for the good relevant posts :)

Well if the past few years have been an idicator of anything, we have seen quite a lot of people faint as premium denim lines have exploded in number, expanded their product lines, and skyrocketed in price.

well if you want designer stuff on the cheaper side, marshall's always has a good selection of name-brand stuff and its cheap usually...just a suggestion.

it really depends, Just like what you'd wear in southern jersey differs greatly from northern jersey

if I would have gone to my state school where most of my H.S. went, I'd have to swear jeans alot and sweatshirts, nothing too off the wall, but at my school, I really can't leave my dorm without wearing a brand name collared shirt or I'll get dirty looks.

and see michelec, you have to give your college a few weeks and get to know the style. like i use to wear old navy alot in high school, and now it'd be really embarrassing to wear at my school. GAP, I can only wear if the brand name isn't showing.

wow..sounds like a kind of superficial school if you cant shop at the gap without being labeled a loser.

<3,

Izzie Bear

It might not be for "superficial" reasons. check out www.gapsucks.org. I have no idea whether that's the reason for the discrimination, though. If not, yeah, that's no good.

yeah, well if the poster claimed that old navy is embarrassing and he couldn't leave the dorms without a brand name polo, then i'm sure it's not for the reasons on that website, heh.

<3,

Izzie Bear

hahaha. yeah that might be Berkeley's reason for not wearing gap, but at my school its cause "it doesn't cost enough."

btw, I've never seen anyone wear PJ's at my school to class.
