Popular college clothing.

you're in reno, not exactly the bastion of couture!

Haha..film, your comment made me laugh.

Anyway..People need to stop thinking that the student body at Berkeley is chalk full of hippies and people constantly boycotting brand names. Sure, there are a lot of protesting hippies in the surrounding town of Berkeley, but this is very common occurance for urban citites in liberal Northern California. There is a Gap right down the street from campus and I'm sure it's a popular choice for the moderate spender.

I don't see why you would advertise the superficial attitude your university has regarding clothing choices, and fail to realize that this isn't a very positive attitude to have in college. This actually sounds a little strange to me because even at expensive colleges in affluent areas, there are bound to be students who come from struggling families. I'm all for dressing nice and fashionable but I still refuse to spend upward of $70.00 for a white tee-shirt when I could get 5 for just as much and still look good. I hope I am never embarrassed to wear clothes just because they aren't insanely expensive. I'm a shopaholic but I'm also a smart shopper and my outfits usually look like they're worth more than what I paid.

I am still curious to know which university this is.

this is going to be a tough transition for me. i go to a private Catholic hs and our uniform is pretty much anything that's part of a suit. to change from wearing that every day to wearing casual clothing is going to be especially tough.

I dont like Jeans. I don't get them. I dont own a single pair and I never plan to.

I just buy cheap clothes.

I usually just go to class in a ghillie suit or skiing outfit

First of all, I don't know what "bastion of couture" means.

Second of all, my hometown is Reno, but my college is in washington, dc. ANd yeah the school is known to be full of JAP's. no really over 50% of the senior class was jewish. Lastly, I'm not 'bragging' persay about the attitude people have about clothes, rather attempting to comedically display their attitude.

couture = fashion
bastion= like a fortress

What he's saying is that Reno isn't exactly where you'd go to find high fashion. LoL, must say that I agreee.

as long as you are comfortable, does it matter what everyone else wears. But personally I'm an Old Navy, Gap, LRG, J Crew, polo shirt, track jacket, pajama wearing kinda guy. Depends on the day, the weather, the class etc

Honestly, who cares what you wear in college.

I'm sick of the same ten abercrombie tank tops being rotated between 20,000 female undergraduates. And honestly, the pink polo isn't that fashionable when every other guy and their brother's best friend's second cousin attempts to rock one.

Don't get me wrong, I love to shop, and consider many of my outfits 'trendy'. I like the preppy look, I'm a fan of boho chic, but I also like to mix it up. I think people pay far too much money the summer prior to coming to college, only to look like every other student. If you wanna spend big bills on clothes, at least get something exciting and unique.

Mix and match different styles to achieve your own unique look. You don't have to be all one style. Take what you like and then combine it with other parts from different styles.

Agreed.

Who gives a crap what the trend is. Wear what you want to wear.

I wear garbage bags around my body like a toga.

Definitely agree.

It really shouldn't matter what you wear. I won't give up my wardrobe once I get to college. I wear Old Navy and Avenue. Other than the two pairs of Gap pants I bought a couple years ago, I have never spent more than $45 on jeans, nor more than $30 on a shirt. And yet I still look good and fit in. Also, if you want to be truly individual, make your own clothes. A few weeks ago, I cut up an old bed sheet, made it into a cute calf-length skirt, and hand painted the bottom. And I know that even though it quite fits in with what other people are wearing, I will be the only one to have a skirt like it.

well... u can get sevens, yanuk, paper denim and cloth, and chip and pepper jeans at nordtrom rack for like $60. and then they have lots of juicy coutoure and marc jacobs on sale there all the time. when i start school next year i dont plan on stopping wearing anything that i wear now, i'll just get it when its on sale. Anyways i'm more of a handbags girl myself.. so we know wehre my money is going.....
