I was recently accepted to the actual University of Maryland - College Park, but not the business school. I realize there is the Markets and Society program in the college of letters and sciences, but is there really any chance of getting accepted into the business school junior year or is it practically impossible?

Plenty of people get accepted, so it's definitely not impossible. However, participating in Markets & Society is by no means a guaranteed "in" to the business school.

you need a minimum of a 3.2 to apply, i believe, but the smith school is pretty competitive. if you get a 3.5+ and you're pretty involved in a couple of smith organizations or any other organizations, however, chances are pretty decent. this is what i've heard so far.

"If at all possible" is completely incorrect. Quite a few people get in each year through internal transfer. Therefore, it is possible. :) Set yourself apart as someone valuable to the business school through participation and academics, and they will want to have you continue.

Admissions into Smith is not impossible at all. You're basically admitted if you have a 3.5 or higher and a nice resume. If you have a 3.3-3.4 and a stellar resume, you're fine too! Hope this helps! Get involved during your freshman and sophomore year! Join a frat, join clubs and study study abroad in sophomore year and interns!

hmm I need to join the business and econ club at my CC and actually do something I can put my name on, but their club meetings are always during my classes :(
