Possible SIS Glitch?

I don't know what to make of it, I logged on to SIS today and found that my fall schedule had been altered. I have been taken out of two discussion classes and placed in other ones at different times. The discussion sections that I signed up for originally are still there but closed. One of the discussion times I was moved into is at the same time as one of my other classes (which is odd). This is weird because I have not touched SIS since May, and have not made any changes to my schedule. Any thoughts?

I’d email the help desk (4help@virginia.edu) and ask them. SIS should have logs of any changes made to any records, so they’ll be able to get to the bottom of what happened.

i also have a question: when i sign up for classes (i’m not a first year), it says that a class is open, but when i enroll, it says that i’m on the waitlist. also, what does this mean: Class 11653 is full. There are currently no seats available and the wait list is full.

because the class is not full, yet i can’t enroll…

Have the international students registered for classes yet? Most of them will not have orientation until mid–August. If they haven’t registered, maybe the last few seats are reserved for them.

I believe the those incoming first years who are attending the orientation right before move-in weekend will sign up for classes online 7/30 or 7/31. They definitely will have had the opportunity to sign up before August 1, when SIS reopens for other first years to start moving around their schedules.

Once all students have had the chance to sign up for classes, I believe those classes showing a wait list will start filling any remaining open slots from the wait list. How much a given WL will move is very hard to predict, though.
