possible transfer

hi, i currently am a junior at tulane looking at applying for spring enrollment. I currently have a 3.33 gpa and spent the hurricane semester at umiami where my gpa was a little bit lower due to the disruption and starting classes late.

I am a member of the national society of collegiate scholars and a history major looking at emory college. i currently own a business studentbid, inc. along with an emory junior. the site is operational at www.studentbid.com

last year i sold wristbands to help out new orleans and the school and raised $8k by selling 2k wristbands and had many articles written about it.

I also worked last summer as an intern for merrill lynch in boston.

I also had a 1410 sat on the old sat in high school (710 math, 700 verbal)

I was wondering what you thought my chances were for spring admissions. do i have a chance since i currently attend a competitive private school. any help would be great. thanks!

Do they take midyear transfers? I'm not familiar with that, but I know very little about the transfer process per se.

Although your gpa looks a little low (as you've indicated), the rest of your resume sounds interesting. I don't know enough about the transfer requirements/standards to give you a worthwhile opinion on the stats. I do think it's really important for you to make a clear and convincing argument why you want to transfer to Emory to make sure they understand your desire is more than just a negative reaction to all the tumult that's taken place in NO. Also have you had a chance to visit the campus?

i have visited but that was when i was looking during high school. the reason i am considerring transferring is not because i dont love tulane and new orleans because i definitely do but because of what is happening at the school. the school is going to take a little while to recover probably 3-5 years and at this point a lot of professors are leaving, the freshmen class is close to half what it was last year and things like that. also i have been bounced around with advisors since the begining. i think im on my 5th advisor and i havent switched majors or anything. i still love the school and will always support it but i think at this point i need a more stable environment to continue my studies. does the rigor of tulane help that my gpa is a little low? surely a 3.33 from tulane is better than a much higher gpa from a 2 year college. thanks for the reply in advance
