Post Office Closed On January 1, 2007

thanks everyone for the great info..we hadn't even thought about this yet

goddammit Ford, why did you have to die?

Because he wanted to ruin your college applications. ??

Is it okay if I place my application inside my mailbox the day before its due?? Say that the app is due Jan 3rd, would the mailman be able to pick it up that morning and send it?

is there NO where that's open on sunday?!!!!!!

"I don't think colleges would be cruel enough to reject everything if one evaluation is missing?"

Teacher rec's are often the last things in. Just do your best to get them sent in ASAP.

Someone's parent or a family friend may have access to the postage metering machine at work. If the mail is metered tomorrow, it will have the correct date.

Just print out a postage label from usps.com. All you need is a printer & a credit card. The date on the label will be before the deadline so you should be in good shape. Plus, you get free delivery confirmation when you create the postage online.

skp21 - I must be getting old (no, I am getting old) but I couldn't find it on on the usps site - where is it?

If you live in a larger city there is probably a 24/7 (even on holidays) post office - most likely near the airport.

phew. i contacted Fedex and found a store that's open until 4 tomorrow. that postage label idea sounds nice tho. i didn't know about it before.

Hurrah for Fedex - best wishes for many fat envelopes this spring!

<a href="https://sss-web.usps.com/cns/landing.do%5B/url%5D">https://sss-web.usps.com/cns/landing.do</a></p>

You have to create a USPS account first, then you can begin creating the label.
**
Note:** Be sure to create a label WITH postage; if you print out the label without the postage, then the "postmark" date would be when you go to the post office and pay.

Uhhhh GUUUUUUYYYYYYYYYS!!!!!!

Most ALL Airports have post offices open TWENTY FOUR hours a day, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, regardless of holidays. You could send it at 11:59 on January 1 if you wanted to!

Woo woo!

Apply Online!!!!

^ That isn't always possible, ie. my Davidson supplement

are you serious? AIRPORTs have post office in them TT i am too clueless. but how many ppl actually send their mail thro airports??

many business people that make documents on their laptops and print em at biz centers at the airport...(Im assuming).

also, good idea on the printing online postage thing. never thought of it

and UPS or FedEx might be open on the second of January

I seriously doubt colleges will penalize you for this. I'm sure they understand that the 1st is New Year's. . . . lol
