<p>as you have probably realized, break is both a godsend (more time for apps) and an obstacle (can't get a hold of teachers and counselors).</p>

<p>My question is... how does the post office operate during the holidays? Are they open throughout the holidays? I read that some stay open later to accomodate the influx of holiday mail. True?</p>

<p>Usually the post office is closed December 25 and (I think) January 1.</p>

<p>Call your local post office and ask. They are usually only closed on Sundays and Federal Holidays. Most of the holiday mail comes before Christmas, they may have extended hours for the next week or so.</p>
