Post Questions about OU.

If there is any interest here and you don;t feel like posting questions, there is an admissions board on the ohio.edu website at http://messageboard.chatuniversity.com/ohioU/

What programs are especialliy strong at OU? How is engineering? Thanks.

Engineering is very strong at OU and has a great reputation. I think the best part about their engineering is that there is a whole wide range of opportunities in that department. There are about 1,400 (freshman through senior) students in the department which has 9 areas of specialty. The size of the department is great so the classes end up being quite small.

Other strong programs include Journalism, Dance, Business and Education.

Thanks wealthofinfo. The new center they are going to build looks like it will be nice. I wonder if they are really going to start it in Spring of 2006?

That looks like the plan... yeah it definitely looks like it's going to be nice. They are doing a lot to keep their campus up-to-date and stuff so that's cool. Are you considering the school for admissions Weenie?

My second son will be junior this year and wants to be an electrical or computer engineer. My eldest son starts Denison Weds, and I thought maybe sometime this year we could combine some Ohio colleges for tours with visits to older brother. Thanks for the link to video. I was amused at the games to studying ratio of the photos in the movie. :) (I enjoyed it actually.)

Hi there. OU seems like an outstanding school and I am very interested in attending. However, I'm an out of state student (California) and I was wondering if that would hinder my chances at all? I would be coming in as a transfer with around a 3.0....I appreciate any information you can give me, I am super psyched on this school.

I think that OU loves out of state students - and it seems like OU has a great alumni population out there in California - over 5.600 alumni! For transfer information, check out the admissions website, that has a lot of the details - I think Ohio warmly welcomes transfer students to apply for admission.

Thanks for the heads up and quick reply! I can't wait to visit the school.

How is graphic design there?
Do they have a New media major there?

Good luck TaxGuy!

What are the average stats (GPA, SAT/ACT's, etc) for people accepted into Scripps? I know there are minimums, but what do most people actually have? And, are there many students from the Northwest there? (meaning, Washington :P)

It's definitely one of the most competitive programs. I would say top 10% of your class - 1650+ on the New SAT (25-27 ACT)? Just a guess.

There are around 2,000 out-of-state students at OU. :)

My advice: Since it's rolling admissions - apply early.

The requirements are:

English 4 Units
Mathematics 3 Units
Science 3 Units
Social Studies 3 Units
Foreign Language 2 Units
Visual or Performing Arts 1 Unit
Total Recommended Units 16 Units (minimum)

Crap I have to have three units of science?? I only have two, but that's because I took physical science early, in 8th grade (I've taken through chemistry). Phys. science shows up on my transcript, only as 0 credits. Is that still okay?

Maybe your counselor can write a note explaining that?

probably. thanks :)
