anyways mine didnt say my major, will it when i get the envelope. i dont understand that i just assumed?

I'm from NoVA too.

I'm just kinda frustrated that kids from my school with lower stats got in Early while those who were clear matches were deferred; it doesn't make sense. But I have my music audition coming up on 2/14, so hopefully I'll impress them enough to accept me.

April 1st is a long way away...

NoVa-Northern Virginia

from NoVa...accepted but still waiting on my out of state application for regular decision...

Beachguru: Harrisonburg is a medium-size working class city in Virginia's Shennandoah Valley. There is ample shopping (the usual big-box stores) near the campus and an excellent bus system for getting around town. You have four seasons of weather, although snow has been sparse so far this year. Excellent hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor sports are nearby (Skyline Drive, George Washington Nat'l Forest). "The Valley" is probably one of the prettiest areas in the state. If you are into history, many major Civil War battles were fought in the area.

Intercity transportation to-from Harrisonburg can be a challenge. You are 2 hours by car from Dulles Airport, probably 2 1/2 from Washington Regan National and closer to 3 from BWI. The closest regional airports I think are Staunton and Charlottesville, neither of which are particularly close. I think the nearest AMTRAK service is Staunton with so-so connections to DC. I am not aware of any daily intercity bus service. There is a weekly (Fri/Sun) bus from JMU campus to Vienna VA at the Washington DC Metro station with metrorail connections to DC and the surrounding area. We're from NoVA and have given our son and his roomate (out of state) rides including Thanksgiving and Winter break. The students often get rides from friends, roommates, and there's a ride board. Freshman do not have cars on campus and frankly don't need one.

If you have any questions about the school or the area, you definitely owe yourself a visit. Hope this helps.

wuforward13 i find it hard that you could be deffered with STATS like that! I'd kill for your stats haha! Maybe you should try applyin somewhere better like one of top 100s or top 150's... any way dont lose faith!
The guys who get deffered, how come you have to wait till April 1st? Is it like the waiting list thing?
CONGRATS!

Yes, wuforward13 and kwoc, surprised you were deferred. Son (instate) is in same boat, 1360 SAT's(M and CR), excellent EC's , rigorous courses but grades could have been better. Very high GPA's seem to be very important to James Madison. James Madison is a great school. Congratulations to those accepted. Good luck to those deferred.Hope there is better news in April!
