Hello everyone! For a long time I have been wondering what schools give what amounts of money (I know it depends on the person) so I figure it would help future applicants if some of us would be nice enough to post some example finical aid letters. If you want to add can you please place it in this format. Here is mine:

Parents' General Income Range: 55000-65000 Dependents in College: 3 Living on campus? Yes

Transfer or Freshman: Transfer

Cal Grant: 12924
Pell Grant: 3600
University Grant: 2052

Grants and Scholarships Total: 18576

Work Study: 2000

Subsidized Loan: 5500
Unsubdidized Loan: 2000
PLUS Loan: 1791

International students are not eligible for the US government aid programs (Pell Grant, SEOG Grant, Stafford Loan, Perkins Loan, PLUS Loan, and Federal Work-Study).

So it seemed kinda pointless. I acknowledge that there are other options. However the British high school finals are in two weeks (study all year, NO GPA, take finals at the end of each year, SUPER HARD!!!) and as an international student from Russia I already have enough paperwork to go through.

Someone has to pay for UCSB’s funding, wouldn’t you agree? Hint: nonresident admissions have surged ;-)

Parents’ General Income Range: > 150k (only one parent works)
Dependents in College: 1
Living on campus? Yes

Transfer or Freshman: Transfer

POSSIBLE (??) Cal Grant: 12924
Pell Grant: 5500

University Grant: 2133

I clicked on the Cal Grant hyperlink and it says “In addition to the FAFSA, UCSB required all undergraduate, California resident, financial aid applicants to apply for a Cal Grant by submitting the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form to CSAC by the March 2 deadline.”

I never submitted a GPA verification form… Did anyone else do this?

EASD, wow how come you are getting around 2k more than me when your parent makes over double what mine makes and only has one other kid in school… Should I call and ask if my letter is wrong???

BTW: You don’t need to submit a GPA verification form because you school did it for you.

@swag, I’m surprised by my aid as well. My SO’s family income is closer to yours and he is getting about the same amount as me. Maybe it’s because I am the dependent of a disabled veteran or because my parents divorced and there is a lot of debt.

Do you know how likely it is that we’ll get the cal grant?

Have any admitted transfers recieved their official award amounts? Mine is still unofficial.

I SIRed to Santa Barbara and Irvine, so the school I send a SIR cancellation to is riding on how much aid I’ll be awarded from UCSB (since UCI promptly posted my official award the day after I was admitted).

EASD I think you will not get any grants except maybe the university grant. Those are all for low income and you are not. Notice your aid says possible and states they have not received the information needed to process a Cal Grant.

I think UCSB has done a deservice to you. They need to program their computers to exclude high income peeps from getting such a misconception from their “unoffical” award. Most other schools including UC schools have already sent FA letters that are reality based. I hope this is not indicative of how things will progress for my D this fall.

mine will be about the same as the poster’s but with a parent income of about 50,000 and living off campus. anybody have an idea of what ill get? bc i know my unofficial will be way off bc of corrections.
