Post your portfolio!

Thanks, Kaelyn. We just got the acceptance email today! They’d come to a decision by January 29, about 4 weeks after D2 submitted her application. They sent out the snail mail shortly after.

My daughter has to submit a separate portfolio now for consideration for a Merit Scholarship. We are crossing our fingers on this, as international students do not qualify for financial aid at most art schools…

@mediopollito, I like your photos very much. I don’t know why, but they gave me the impression that you’re British, but I see that that’s wrong. Just a funny thing I guess.

@greenwith: why thank you! haha it’s funny you thought I was British. I’ve always wanted to be British, and I’ve been told that I could pass for a Brit :)

The tea, the girl with straight hair and bangs, the tea again, calling a sweater a jumper… (and they’re both funny names when you think about it), I guess that’s what spoke to me. Then I saw there were two more pages of photos. What fun! South Carolina coast?

yes, I occasionally use British words  hahah.

North Carolina coast  I live about two hours away from the beach.

Good luck on your applications. My D2 also applied to Columbia. She didn’t send a portfolio because she didn’t read about the specifics until it was too late. They wanted SLIDES only (sent on a dinosaur maybe?) and even though I found a photo lab that would undigitize images on a CD into slides, it would take 4 days and the deadline was too close. Also, there was some lovely statement from Columbia that said “there’s no guarantee anyone will look at any supplemental information”!!!

Then, today, she gets an e-mail requesting her portfolio (on SLIDES again) so I guess I’m off to find that photo lab, and I can’t remember the name of it, and it’s snowing profusely… well, we’ll see how it goes.

Kaelyn,
i agree that people are toooooo nice on these forums! im glad youre a lil sassy. DID YOU GET INTO COOPER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! one of my friends got waitlisted and im dying to know how you did. im planning on doing photo w/ maybe textiles

another blog thats pretty nice and updates frequently: [BOOOOOOOM! - CREATE * INSPIRE * COMMUNITY * ART * DESIGN * MUSIC * FILM * PHOTO * PROJECTS](http://www.booooooom.com/) idk if you already look at it, but its a good mix of things

REJECTED!!!

It’s what I get for all that sass. Thanks for the link. I’ve No idea where the cool art blogs be at. I’m sure you know it but this is the best i can do for now tinyvices.com
Kinda bummed about the cooper thing but it isn’t exactly the easiest place to get in to. I’ll suck it up and maybe they’ll hear from me next December.

Hope you do well on the hometest. Time management helps!!!

:[ where else did you apply?
ill be joining your ranks soon enough, i have most of my ideas planned out and things, but its a week into it and i have nothing physically produced…

also, http://www.laurennassef.com/category/drawing-a-day/

Um Chelsea College of Art in London, SAIC (which is like every cooper hopeful’s second choice) and i’ve yet to submit my application to california college of art and art center. Been thinking I would have really liked Bard but its waaay past the deadline. I may also go to school in Düsseldorf.

Get working on that production!!!

Good luck with your applications, kaelyn. How exciting to be able to study art in Europe!

???
Is one of them your hometown?

I also got accepted to RISD so I’ve been thinking about there too (provided i can find the money). None of those places are my hometowns. I live on a little island off the coast of Venezuela.

Wow. So is it Venezuela or beong to somebody else, like, your family?

I was born, raised and currently live in Trinidad (which is the said country off the coast of Venezuela). Art production and consumption is somewhat limited over here so I’ve been focusing my energy on finding enough money to study abroad.

wow
the best painter in the school is from there, born? I’m not sure but heritage wise
and one other kid 's sister is a supermodel of sort.
must be something in the little island.

[Eclectic Art](http://www.eclecticart.■■■■■■■■■■■■■) !!!

any – i don’t think you can do that anymore. it’s happened in the past but now that they have dual degree they aren’t going to let you get your independent dual degree. what’s your field of art? brown has a decent program, and risd obviously does too (but a much different philosophy). i go to brown.

the best way to find out if risd gives full scholarships or any scholarships to transfers is to ask. my bet is no. brown is need-aware, but will meet that “need”

grrr…
dictator, why didn’t you scoot over few inches so the electric outlet plugging thing on the wall won’t be in the photo? THAT is the first thing my eyes focused on.
or is it part of your artwork?

Kaelyn, sorry to hear about the cooper’s app, but I am intrigued by your goal to study art in the UK at Chelsea. My sister is a graduate of Chelsea (fabric design) but after finishing high school in UK they make her complete a one year foundation studies at a local art college (one close to home to save money) and then she applied to the art programs which are generally 3 years. I discovered when my S was interested in applying (holds UK passport) that they welcomed his app but strongly hinted that his chances would be better after doing a year of foundation at SAIC, MICA, etc.

They did say there were exceptions, but you may want to talk to Chelsea about their expectations for foreign students. Also, absolutely no aid available for foreign students --including UK citizens living abroad…(perhaps they give a break to commonwealth member citizens) Oxford art program required 700s on all 3 parts of the SAT as well as a year foundation at a US art school…whew…not exactly an open arms policy.
