B&D: Hope your hand is better. D saved her case for I don’t know what - pencils, marker, whatever. Chicago is my home town, and I was hoping SAIC would have been a good fit for her. She found the city a little overwhelming after growing up in an underwhelming Florida town. The Chicago food is awesome. The only place I’ve found where cheese is the top ingredient on a thin crust pizza, no matter what else is on it.

tell her to watch her fingers, or better yet file down all raw edges.
thank you, it healed but took longer. (age)
so you are chicagoan, do you know how to get to the bigger zoo by public transportation?
sorry nothing to do with portfolio.

Yes, the big zoo is Brookfield Zoo and is accessible by the Metra, the commuter train that goes between downtown (leaves from Union Station which is where Amtrak stops) and the suburbs. No smart people drive into downtown everyday to work. Too much traffic and very expensive to park.

thanks
we are going to the zoo zoo zoo how about you you you
well, we don’t know when when when 'cas we haven’t got yen yen yen
how’s my new poem?

zukhyubern.daportfolio.com for photography
hubr.tk for poetry/story/same photography

I submitted this photography to SAIC. I’m applying to the BFAW program for writing/photography etc. at SAIC. I sent in my portfolio on monday and am praying for scholarships.

yes 22/yr is the most SAIC gives, but that is not including financial aid, which i received 17,000 (most in grants as opposed to loans), leaving me with only 10k to pay, which shouldnt be too bad.

HOWEVER I HAVE GOOD NEWS

i got a phone call from the dean of admissions from cooper the other day, it turns out they sent me the WRONG LETTER

what are the odds of that??? so it turns out i am actually deferred, which just means more waiting, but wow am i so excited to have another shot at this!!!

valtergeorge-

very strange and cool about the deferred letter. If I were you the gears would be turning right now! What does any contact mean? My s got a deferred letter in January, and recently got an email saying that something needed to be fixed on a form. I got all excited about it because why would they bother fixing forms (or mentioning wrong letters in your case) if you werent on the radar of someone there?

i’m not too sure what that means but my guess would be assume absolutely nothing. cooper is crazy and i know people who had all the signs of getting in and didn’t, but i also know students whose return checks had been cashed and didn’t receive phone calls who in the end were accepted. even me, i’ve had it in my head for two months now that i’ve been rejected and going to SAIC, but now everythings completely flipped.

i dont know how much sense that made, but either way best of luck to your son. what is his name?

@FranSan, I like your stuff

@bears it wasn’t necessary for the purpose of the photo

I didn’t apply to any art schools, but I did send some prints of stuff I did earlier this year as supplements to all my schools…
What do you think?

SDonCC, thanks!

I think we should restart this.

I’m going into senior year in my undergrad, graphic design/illustration, getting read to start applying to MFA programs. Scary :|

@bears and dogs: Thanks for the scoffing. I actually think this is super beneficial to help see what work got accepted to schools and actually get REAL “chances” for art schools that aren’t based on grades or test scores. A lot of people don’t get the chance to go to NPD (national portfolio day) and I, as well as others I’m sure, who have been able to can really give valid critiques on what colleges might say because of this experience. Just because I attend a High School where I do a lot of art, doesn’t mean I’m better than the hidden gems of talent in normal schools.

Does anyone know how to watermark photo’s or know a good free online tool to do it? I don’t have photoshop…

@katy284: I’m kind of in love with this one: [katyorr’s Gallery](<a href=“katyorr - Professional, Digital Artist | DeviantArt”>katyorr - Professional, Digital Artist | DeviantArt) The texture in the background is so lovely.

I was planning on documenting the process of assembling the portfolio, getting feedback from others and NPD’s, and then acceptances and awards. I’ll try to update here as it progresses.

“I actually think this is super beneficial to help see what work got accepted to schools and actually get REAL “chances” for art schools that aren’t based on grades or test scores” - Precisely

Most of my representational stuff is in sketchbooks and therefore not here, gestures, figures, etc.
