Hi guys,

So I was just curious of what to expect at SPOP. Could you guys post what some of the most prominent things that they make you do are? For example, on the vague schedule there is "Hall Discussions and Activities" and even a "talent show"? I just want to know in more depth what to expect so I can be prepared.

Also, I heard these wild rumors of them making you do really embarrassing things and then taping it. Any truth to this?

And you don't actually have to bring your transcript right?

I went last Monday/Tuesday. I totally had no idea of what was going to happen and I had a great time.
You don’t need to prepare for anything.
And I don’t think there was any taping of anything.
And, no, you don’t need to bring a transcript. :D

Hey, I went Monday/Tuesday as well! And the only clues I had to as what was going to be going on was the schedule, which is pretty straight forward.

Hall discussions and activities, are just that, it’s just some fun stuff that’ll happen, and there’s even a lot of stuff that happens after 8 (when the schedule happens on Day 1), such as a dance and some stuff like that.

It’s a fun experience, and the only reason you would need to bring a transcript is if it’s missing from your MyAdmissions page, for example, I brought my AP Scores, but did not need 'em.

As for embarrassing things, you don’t really have to do any of the things that the group does, but you most likely will end up doing it, because it’s a lot of fun.

Don’t worry you’ll have fun. Don’t wear sandals or a purse to the dance. After the dance there’s going to be some running. I saw a few people lose their shoes.

^ i was one of those unlucky individuals that lost their shoe LOL. i was wearing a pair of rainbows so when they got knocked off of me i quickly broke away and ran to get it back. it was loads of fun as soon as we got into our halls

i just came back from spop 4. unfortunately, i got sick during the night, so i couldn’t go to the dance and i didn’t stay awake with my hall people, but it was still soooo fun.
just make sure you have closed-toed shoes, and make sure that it’s comfortable to walk in.
other than that, just wait for your experience. it’s really fun.

@aishxashley- I attended SPOP4, too! :)

But SPOP was fun, for the most part! The first day is kind of boring, because it’s mostly presentations & academic advising, but it gets better throughout the day, when you meet the people in your hall. There’s the dance, which I went to & didn’t really enjoy it, because Idk, it was with people that I didn’t know! Ahaha, so I ended up talking on the phone. After that, there was a running activity, which your staffers will tell you to wear close toed shoes! You don’t have to do whatever your hall does, it’s your choice. You can stay in your room & sleep or just watch! It’s completely up to you. I didn’t stay up for the later activities, because I was really tired, but you can have fun, regardless of staying up.

A good experience, overall. Enjoy yourself & be open to others. :)

im a second year and ive been lurking into the spops lately for fun haha
