Postage on Rec Letters

Do any of you know how many stamps it takes to send a recommendation letter in a 9x12 envelope? I have to pre-stamp it for one of my recommenders.

2 should cover it. 3 definitely will, if you want to be safe.

^two .37 stamps will do?

yeah just two will do fine.
if it's like a counselor rec, i'd recommend three because it has more papers in it.

Really? I've been putting three on all my teacher evals. :(

Should a supplement (CD and form) be three or two stamps?

It's $0.39 now.

I put two stamps for my rec letters and three for my secondary school report or whatever (since my counselor put transcripts and the like in it too).. and they all got there okay.

stick four on there -it may be excessive but at least you'll be at rest.

you can check it on usps.com

Stanford says "Use two."

:p

i went to the post office today.
my art supplement cost about $1.18 (because of the cd and all the papers)
the counselor/secondary school one was about 80something cents
and two stamps are fine for a teacher rec.

Does it have to be 9 x 12?

I know it says so on there, but I really don't think they'll throw away my application for not using the correct envelope...

I recommend following directions as much as you can.

Not using 9X12 might not hurt you, but it definitely will not help you.

I only had 10x13 but I was hoping their only concern was that your application might be folded, etc. :</p>

I agree with meipirate...at the very least, if you can't have 9x12, have something bigger. :p
