Does anybody know how the postoffice works? If I put my application in the Out Mails, will it likely be postmarked by Novemeber 1st?

Thanks.

Thanks.

my mother is a regular mail carrier for USPS and she says that the mail is postmarked for the day the mail carrier picks it up in almost all cases.

I'd recommend USPS track mail. Cost isn't too much and the peace of mind is worth much.

So this means if we send in our application on Oct 31, it will still meet the Nov 1 ED deadline even if it arrives to the university on say...Nov 3?

Thank you, gumba2468 and hazmat. May I ask how do I go about using USPS track mail? I've almost never sent mails before except for letters.

Yep...as long as it is postmarked on or before November 1st.

One example.
There are other services as well. DHL, UPS, FedEx et al.

Would it be postmarked on the same day I turn it into the post office?

YUP or Kinko's or have the service pick up at your school or home. All the same.

EISD - it depends on what time you turn it in. I think at my local USPS office all mail turned in by 5 PM gets postmarked that day and sent the following morning. I don't know if that's a universal rule or not.

Urban areas almost all have a late window at the Post Office. Operates beyond 5pm.
