Pre-College

My friend would like some clarification or at least some help on the UC system. She says the only UC’s she can go to are the low-tier ones which are Merced and Riverside but she always says and I quote"I’m just going to be a hobo in life."
Her Freshmen year(Both Semesters) are
-3.833 with 3 honors both semesters

Her Sophomore year(Both semesters) are
-3.833 with 1 ap and 3 honors courses

Her Junior Year(Current Year)
-She has 4 ap classes, 1 honors course and 1 visual arts course
She has a 3.0 this semester not including the finals which take place tommorow.

Her weighted gpa is a 3.92 for both freshmen and sophomore year but she is afraid her overall gpa will plummel down due to her poor junior year and will not be acceptable to UC’s because her junior year standoff was a 3.0

She is constantly saying she won’t get into a good college or any at all because her sophomore year and freshmen year were not 4.0’s and her junior year which even though has 4 ap’s,1 honor she still says that won’t matter
Her SAT was a 1950 and her parents will not allow her to take it again which she also says 1950 is a poor score compared to others and will take the ACT sometime this month. She also is enrolled in her 10th year of piano and will get her diploma after finishing this year which she says doesn’t matter because 1 extra curricular isn’t enough.

She is planning to take 5 ap courses senior year and planning to major in law.She has taken a law class during her summer and gets paid for it.

Your friend, almost certainly will do a great deal better than she assumes, based on the academic performance you’ve delineated. You might want to mention to her, however, that law school (and I assume that’s what she means by majoring in law) is a professional school, which one applies to and enters after undergraduate school. In the United States, one can no longer attend law school directly from high school (although, many generations ago, one could do so).
