I was just accepted to Union College :D. I am going in as a pre-med/neuroscience major and I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on whether they have a good program. Are there any near by hospitals to volunteer at? Are there research opportunities available? If they have a good reputation for pre-med and whether it will be worth the money?

Congrats to you both !!! Though I am not a pre-med student, I can still give you guys some info on pre-med. Pre-med is quiet popular here at Union (It’s not a major but is only a track). Each pre-med student has a pre-med advisor who help he/she figure out each steps. It comes in quiet handy since you have to keep track of pre-med requirements, major requirements, and general requirements. Ellis Hospital is only about a 10 minutes walk from campus so it is convenient when it comes to volunteering. Research is a selling point at Union. A lot of people do research. As an undergrad, you can work with equipments that are only available to grad students at other schools !!! Professors are very nice about research also. Regarding Neuroscience, we just received a $900,000 grant from NSF through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Union is the only undergrad school that got the grant). The program will have a new home in Butterfield Hall (It is going to be renovated in the spring, I think).

So yeah, I would say that Union has a pretty good pre-med program. Many kids have ended up a good med schools !!! Albany Med School is closely linked with Union too so it can be an option.
