Im currently a biology major going on the pre med track as well and was wondering if it's a good idea to minor in spanish. I know theres going to be a large course load, but do you think its manageable? Also, any thoughts on the Emory Spanish department? I've heard it's quite difficult. I will be taking Spanish 101 next year as a sophomore,so I'm not even sure if I'll be able to get through all the credits for a minor within 3 years. Thoughts?

Since you’re currently enrolled at Emory, you should just post your question on the Emory 2016 Facebook group, or email the head of the Spanish department. I know two people pursuing a bio major/spanish minor, so it’s not like that combination is particularly rare at Emory.

@eaglefish or @whenhen could you please tell me a little bit about how bio major/pre-med is at Emory? That’s what I’m going to be doing so a little insight would be nice :).

I think the teachers are excellent. I have friends in lower level classes and I’m in 212 (I’d say it’s the high end of intermediate), and I love it. I don’t tihnk it’s difficult, but it does take time (I’m not that good, and it’s been 3 years since I took Spanish in high school). I think it’s a great choice.

Idk about the courseload, but with the new credit system, I imagine a lot of people will just have to suck it up and deal with it.
