Any opinions or past experiences about taking pre med courses over the summer?
Should it be done ... How feasible is it?

It’s a double edged sword in most cases. In summer classes, you have students who are really excelling and want to get ahead in their coursework, and students who need to repeat the class from the previous semester or need to complete an incomplete grade(I). Sometimes you get more of one type of student than the other.

In my own experience, Berkeley lower division O-chem classes are graded on a strict curve, where the top 15% of student’s scores receive A’s and the next 30% receive B’s, and so on. When I took O-chem 1 in the summer, the average point scores on each exam were much higher than they were relative to during the year (it was actually the highest test scores this specific professor ever had in his twenty years of teaching). Even though i still got an A-, if I had taken it during the academic year, I would have had an A for sure with my same scores.

Overall, it’s probably better to spend your summer’s working on your EC’s and volunteering.

Chemistry, Biology – no. English, Math, Psychology, Socialogy - ok.

Ahh I see.

You should enjoy your free summers in UG. You will never have them after you graduate. D. had free summers, slept in, spent time with friends, some very light volunteering / shadowing. It is the best to take it easy. Trust me, if you miss this opportunity, you will never have it in your life, ever…

I’ll take that into account. thanks
