Pre-Med & Journalism

I know colleges offer pre-med as a program, and not a major, so I would like to major in journalism while taking pre-med classes. I want to be a doctor as well as a journalist of some sort.

Do you think colleges will accept my totally different interests?

What are some good colleges that offer a journalism major? Pre-med program? Both?

It kinda sounds like your interested in public health. Many public health schools offers courses in epidemiology as well as communication. John Hopkins and UWashington have excellent public health programs.

Hey there Noise-- you sound exactly like me! I wanted to be a journalist for years, and then in high school I became very interested in science and medicine. As Seattle said, the interests are not actually so unrelated. Many health professionals also enjoy reading/writing about current medical developments, and developments in other areas of the news.
Her suggestion is a good one-- try to look for schools with Public Health programs. I’ve toured Johns Hopkins twice, and their program is absolutely outstanding. If you have the stats for it, I would highly suggest applying. The school will look favorably on your diverse interests, and realize you would be a good fit for the program, since it has both scientific and social science aspects.
Hope this helped!
