i was accepted to both and was wondering which would be most beneficial towards getting into med school. is it true that ucsd sciences are less competitive (less rigorous grading) than ucla?

yes…but ucsd wont be a breeze, it will be competitive not as competitive as ucla…i personally would go to ucsd…save ur gpa, and u;ll have more time to do ECs and wont have to study as much…there are plenty of kids who go from UCSD to top med schools such as UCSF, Harvard, Stanford, etc.so prestige DOES NOT MATTER…also keep in mind that ppl are always acting like the oppurtunites at ucla are soo amazing, WHEN IN TRUTH ucla doesn’t have any amazing oppurtunities that UCSD wouldn’t offer…

thanks mnop, so what types of opportunities does ucsd have that ucla doesnt?

They’re both crazy competitive. I would not say you will have less at SD, so you shouldn’t choose by that xD

no UCSD doesn’t have that hard of chem as ucla does…ucla is notoriously difficult for chem, and keep in mind u take 2 years of chem which is a huge impact on science gpa…sandman i think u might have missed what i was sayin so ill rephrase it: Lets say u need to take advantage of an oppurunity called A which will help u get into med school…UCLA and UCSD will both offer A in the same amounts…thus ucla doesnt have A in greater abundance than UCSD…and vice versa
