i know that pre med is not a major.
i believe pre med is a program at JHU and you can choose a major under that program.
but i was wondering.. is there a better chance of getting accepted if I apply for a biology major rather than the competitive pre med program? i know i want to go to med school in the future so i want to apply for pre med but i'm afraid that pre med is too competitive even for early decisions...

There is neither a pre-med major not a pre-med program at Hopkins. There is a pre-medical advising track, which basically means that you’re signed up for a mailing list from Preprofessional Advising, and attend some of their workshops (the mandatory ones start junior year, I believe). You can major in absolutely anything and still be on the pre-medical advising track. Some popular majors for pre-medical students include biology, public health, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, etc, but there are many many more options. You can major in English, History or Economics, if that’s what you want, and still be on the pre-med advising track

does that mean you apply with a major and then sign up for premed advising track AFTER you get accepted?

Yes, they have no idea what you want to do when they accept you. And not everyone who is pre-med joins immediately. So yes, you use the advising track once you are accepted.

thank you!!
