Pre Screen Preparations

Hi All! Let’s the games begin! Lol
My S is away until next weekend, then crazy town begins! I’ve got spreadsheets galore, and dates all over, and am still feeling like we are behind!
For those that are applying to schools w pre screens…I’m just curious as to where you all are in the process? Are we the only ones who haven’t prepared them yet? S has at least 2 songs selected, and 2 monologues, resume completed, and headshots being done in 2 weeks. Choreography tbd…maybe it’s just me whose starting to freak out about the timelines and getting recordings done?
Sigh…and breathe…lol
Thanks and BAL to all!

I’m slowly working through the final list of schools, making my own master list of prescreen requirements. There is some cross-over but also a surprising (frustrating?) number of differences - 90 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc. Dance prescreens are all over the place in terms of what they want. And then there are the schools which haven’t posted yet.

I stopped freaking out once I got the dates for everything on the calendar though. I guess I’ve been more worried about the logistical side of it than the artistic side of it because the logistics is my end of this endeavor.

^^^the MOST frustrating part of the prescreen process are the differences! Starting early will save your sanity.

The differences drive me nuts! We are working on selection, technique and delivery.

My S has been away for the last six weeks of summer, and is actually arriving home AFTER his senior year has begun (so will have catch-up there)…and we are sooooo far behind regarding the prescreen process. He is STILL picking songs and monologues and I am lost on what to do about the dance element. He has some great coaches…but time away (even if it has been focused on MT) has really made things hard. I am trying not to freak out for him…and to remain calm in general…but just wanted to let you know that there are those of us that are even further behind. I just keep telling myself it will all work out and he will end up where he was supposed to be. Deep breaths…

^^^me last summer!! Don’t panic! You are still in a very good spot!

Yes - I’ll second that. I do not recommend doing what we did, but we did not get our pre-screens in until the end of October. They were still accepted. You have time - but I’d recommend getting them in before then if you can.

We targeted September 30 last year and made it for some, but not others. D did end up getting everything in but some of the schools’ requirements made the process longer.
