Pre-Screening Results 2008-2009

No word on the pre-screens for Vocal Performance from Oberlin yet- they said that they were going to try to get all of the needed faculty together over the holidays to listen and decide, so it will definitely be after the first of the year. My D was accepted at Hartt (Early Action) - she heard from them on Dec.26th! She will also be at CIM in January and is waiting to hear from the afformentioned Oberlin, Eastman and Curtis. Just as an FYI- Eastman has said that, depending upon the audition dates you asked for, you may get as little as 2 weeks notice (that mainly applies to those that requested the January audition dates), but that everyone should hear by the middle of January; this scramble was due to the fact that Eastman was swamped by all of those applications sent in on the very last date.

I heard from a faculty member that Oberlin has actually sent e-mails to all those VP majors invited for an on-campus auditions. But rejections have yet to come...

Luckily, I will be doing a regional audition! phew!

Rejection from Mannes :( Oh well. They have sucky dorms anyways! Haha!

Nothing from NEC, BoCo, or Eastman yet in this house.

DS has not heard from Eastman, Curtis, Julliard or Peabody. I imagine nothing is going to happen until next week at the earliest.

SURE would like to hear about some jazz pre-screens too! Any jazz parents have dates they heard last year--Eastman, Peabody, New School, Oberlin, McGill (though McGill and New School deadlines haven't even arrived yet.)

SJTH, I think ALL notices from McGill were the very last recieved last year. Not sure if they were just behind in general, or they followed their standard timeline. There's an old thread from last year, but I can't recall the title. You can try searching MacGill.

Nothing from NEC, Eastman, Peabody..

seriously!? i really, really want to find out from NEC and BoCo!!!!

Word from the admissions office at Oberlin was that they were "going to get the commitee together and listen to the CDs during the holidays and not to expect to hear anything until after the first of the year". Given that no one hear has heard anything, good or bad, from them, that statement seems to be plausible. Is there anyone here who went the Early Action route with Oberlin? If so, when did you hear the results? Hartt's auditions were on the 6th of December and my D received her letter on 12/26- are most schools on the same time line?

Oberlin early review candidates heard results after the auditions the first weekend in December before Christmas -- they sent email prior to hard copy coming out. They turned around the audition invites very quickly and also got back the audition results promptly.

I think that it is reasonable to expect that they will not send out invitations to auditions until the first week of January at the earliest.

I heard back from Oberlin prescreening on 12/27...

Ditto- I heard back on the 27th from Oberlin via e-mail.

Silly, Oberlin. They should just send out everything at the same time to avoid confusion like this...

No news is not bad news. Listening to audition tapes is very time consuming - you wouldn't want it to be otherwise! At IU I know for a fact that they listen to the tapes according to the audition date you've requested: if you requested a January audition you will hear in early January, but if you requested a late February audition, you won't likely hear anything until at least early February.

I passed prescreening at the Manhattan school of music. They e-mailed me a couple weeks back. For prescreening results I'm still waiting on Peabody and Eastman. Back to practicing cello.

On Dec 23, Son heard back from IU-Bloomington, Jacobs School of Music. He has a voice audition on Jan 16. Music test in the morning, and voice auditions don't start until 4:30 pm. Wastes a whole day.

BTW: got the Courtyard by Marriott for $57/night off Priceline for the audition.

Still waiting to hear from Eastman and New England Conservatory.

Hey OperaDad maybe we'll meet up....Daughter will be there on same day...You're right looks to be a long day....her music test is at 11:30 with vocal audition at 6:08...Probably okay with her as she is a night person anyways and will give her time to be vocally ready...Also will give us time to look around the campus and see what the city of Bloomington has to offer.

Pre-screen .. got back from Eastman. I've made it but I'm still waiting for Peabody and New England

How did Eastman contact you?

Brianna0401, good to hear that you have heard from Eastman -- are you in voice or another instrument?
