My predictions are as follows; predict yours in the same format.

How many wrong on (E,M,CR,S) for a:
36: (0,0,1,0)
35: (1,1,2,NA)
34: (2,2-3,3,1)
33: (3,4,4-5,2)
32: (4,5,6,NA)
31: (5-6,6-7,7,3)
30: (7,8,8,4)

no way, that is too lenient
its more like 4 wrong on each section is 32

36: (0,1,1,0)
btw do they set the curve before or after the test?

no way, there are too few people. There wont be a curve

i thought the last science passage was esp hard...but the rest was not that bad

I definetly agree, jaw. I couldn't figure out what the hell the graph was saying. I kinda figured it out by the end, though. Was the core like 25% of the radius?

for me, english was a bit weirder/harder this time than it was in june...math was also a little harder in my opinion, and i got a 35 on the june ACT math...but reading and science were DEFINITELY easier for me...im going to say -1 will give you a 35 in math, -2 34...for engilsh, -1 35, -2 34, -3-4 33

I thisnk the curves will be harsh. They always are.

My predictions are as follows;

How many wrong on (E,M,CR,S) for a:

36: (1,1,1,0)
35: (2,2,2,1)
34: (3,3,3,2-3)
33: (3-4,3-4,3-4,4-5)

I'm liking your science curve...i hipe it goes like that

There is always a "curve" that determines the grading, but it is not a curve in the traditional sense of the curve. It basically just determines how each section will be scored. I believe the curve is set BEFORE the test.

Since there are more questions in English and Math, wouldn't more questions wrong there equal a better score than Reading or Science?

We need Mrs. Ferguson in here. She knows everything! :D She'll definately know how the ACT curves work. :)

The "curve" is just the score conversion table. Look at p. 63 of Preparing for the ACT. That's how raw scores (how many questions you get right) are converted to standard or scale scores (what you get on your score report) for the test in that booklet. Each version of the test has a slightly different conversion table, depending on, among other things, the difficulty. This helps make all the tests equivalent even though some may be a little bit harder than others. It's set in advance; if they used the kind of curve that's set after the test, based on the performances of the test-takers, it wouldn't be standardized testing.

good. so the fact that not a lot of people took this Sept. test doesn't really affect the curve. I just hope they set it high.

I think the science curve will be harsh because many people found it easy. I think the english curve will be slightly more lenient because most people found it much more difficult than normal, so maybe one question wrong will still be 36 and so you can get around a 30 with missing eight questions or so. Math will be about normal, and reading will maybe be slightly more lenient.

i hope science isnt too bad

Is it common at all to be able to miss one and still get a 36? Or at least as common as suggested here. I am looking for a 36, but I'm worried about Science and Math (hopefully 1 wrong in Science is 35).

Usually reading you can get one wrong and still get a 36, and sometimes with English. In all the practice tests I've taken, science and math one wrong and no chance for a 36.

i like how you can get 1/5 of the questions wrong and still get a 30 for reading

My thoughts about the test:

Math was definitely harder, undoubtedly the hardest math section I've seen out of all the practice tests I've taken.

English was a bit harder, not sure. It was one in which you'd have to look really closely at the sentence structures or you can make dumb mistakes.

Reading was about the same, although the last passages was a bit convuluted.

Science was about the same. There might have been one or two tricky passages, but about the same.

My predictions of curves:

Math:

1-2 wrong: 36
3 wrong: 35
4 wrong: 34
5 wrong: 32
6 wrong: 31
7 wrong: 30

It may seem lenient, but this math section was a lot harder than usual.

English:

1 wrong: 36
2 wrong: 35
3 wrong: 34
4-5 wrong: 33
6-7 wrong: 32
8 wrong: 31
9 wrong: 30

Reading:

1-2 wrong: 36
3 wrong: 35
4 wrong: 34
5 wrong: 33
6 wrong: 32
7-8 wrong: 31
9 wrong: 30

Science:

1-2 wrong: 35
3 wrong: 34
4 wrong: 33
5 wrong: 32
6 wrong: 31
7 wrong: 30
