Premed question!

I think I have a pretty good shot of being accepted to BU (of course im not sure but anyways) and I want to go really badly I just have a few questions

I have always been interested in a medical career (more specifically a hematologist-oncologist). But my academics strengths are in linguistics and language which is unfortunate because it does not interest me at all. But science is always my hardest subject. Chemistry Honors is the only B (88%) I have ever gotten in high school. Do you think since science is my hardest class I would not be able to succeed in pre-med/medical school? :frowning: I have a passion for it, in fact I volunteer every week for 4 hours at the hospital on the oncology floor, but for some reason I just struggle with it in school. So yeah, my question is, would I still be able to be successful in the medical field or should I reevaluate myself?

More specific to BU, what is the premed program like? class sizes? what are the professors like? anything you can share is appreciated.

ps im a sophomore in high school and I took Biology Honors freshman year, I’m in chemistry honors this year, and I will be in AP Biology next year and AP Physics Senior year

To answer your initial question, no you should not reevaluate your intended career path. Science and math are harder in general (in my mind) than all the other subjects in the facet that you have to use critical thinking rather than raw memorization and application of that memorization. If honors chemistry is your only B(a high b at that) then you should not stress out. Keep working hard and you will do fine, however in college premedicine isn’t a “major” it’s 5 requires courses, so you might consider a major to keep your Gpa strong in a field of humanities you enjoy or a non(medicine) related major such as business(shocker I know), but ultimately, do what you love; it will get you farther.
