Prep schools and AP

I am new to the forum. As we are checking on Prep schools for my son , noticed that few schools do not have AP courses listed in curriculum or have very few listed ( Like AP Physics and AP Music but not AP English / AP Chemistry). It is confusing. If there are no AP courses available ( they do have honors listed ), is that a disadvantage?

Any insights?

Another question is: as we apply ( for a 95%+ student , well rounded and lot of credits to his belt ), if we expect FA, will that lessen the chance of the acceptance rate?
