Preparation ideas?????

What are some ways to prepare for college? I am currently working on my writing and public speaking skills but are looking for more suggestions.

Make a schedule of classes and get a head start on any reading.

Take a break from academics and pursue your non-academic interests. If you are like most students who suffer from seniorities towards the end of high school, a break from school work will give you some much needed rest to get excited about homework again!

Get excited about homework? Do people actually do that?

Did you ever program a robot to play soccer? That’s pretty darn exciting!

Improve your vocabulary. Seriously.

My history professor would use words that my friends and I understood, but would leave the rest of the class scratching their heads. It was frustrating to have to stop the class while someone asked what a pretty basic word meant.

Public speaking and writing are good…going to need those. ^Improving vocab will help TONS. Try to work on reading faster because that will help those pesky long chapters go by quicker…just be able to KNOW what it is saying too lol.

Vocab isn’t that serious at my school. I’ve had two professors tell the class that he rather us use regular words than trying to be all fancy and use big words. Simplicity is key. No one cares if you know 600 “big” words. You could 600 “big” words in a paper and still get an F on the paper.

Organizational/time management skills would be a good thing to work on.
