Has anyone in this message board taken or will be taking AP Bio this fall? If you have, what are the general science prerequisites for this course?

Thanks again.

Biology and Chemistry.

^how can I prepare for AP Bio if I havnt had an actually chemistry course? Can I just buy the SATII Chem prep books and look it over?
Can I still manage an A in the class w/o chem..?

--sorry this is off topic..

you don't need chemistry for biology. my school offers ap biology to sophmores, and ap chem to juniors. - so it appears that there is no specific need for it. for the ap bio in my high school, it is the first bio course, and there are no prerequisites except for teacher reccomendation.

so i think it is no problem if you did not take chem

I took AP Bio as well as Honors Chem as a sophmore. You don't need chemistry. We used Campbell's 5th edition and it explained all the chemistry terms fairly well. In fact, I learned all the chemistry in biology before we learned it in chemistry. So when we learned it chemistry, I already knew most of the information. You'll be fine.

I am currently taking AP Biology at my high school and chemistry is a prerequisite for the class. I havent taken it yet and ap biology is kickin my azz. the first part of ap biology is mostly chemistry and as i am experiencing, it can be death 2 your A average if you havent had chemistry. I have always made A's but i have a 45 in ap biology. i'm not saying that u will make a 45, or that u will lose your A average, but you may seriously want to speak with the ap biology teacher at your school and see what they think you should do and what their suggestions are. this class aint a walk in the proverbial park, unless you are a science genius or can catch on to stuff real fast without much explanations. It can also depend greatly on the teacher.

I skipped Chem and took AP Bio as a soph and AP Chem this year. I did fine on the Bio AP test with minimal studying (4), it wasn't too bad, you can do it if you pay attention in class and do the labs.
