Prescreen results

My D is a prospective music ed. major (voice) at Northwestern and has not yet heard if she’s invited for an audition. Called the music school today, and was told they’d begin sending e-mails early next week.

dklavier: I have the same problem. I called them and they said not to grow concerned until at least Feb, because they’re 10 business days behind with updating things.

And everyone but sopranos should sign up for an audition at BoCo, I believe? Sopranos get notified.

Just thought I’d put in what I found out - thus far, I have auditions schedule for Rice and Northwestern (regional).

I’m applying for piano (undergrad) and like many on this thread, have been intently biting my nails and waiting for prescreening results from my remaining schools until…I couldn’t help it anymore and called them today; Juilliard said that they will try to have results out by the 3rd week of January and that stragglers will get sent out by the end of January. NEC said that they will have results out by the end of this week. MSM’s have been out, but there was an issue with receiving my prescreening, so they had me send another one - apparently, it will be evaluated by a panel tomorrow and they will get back to me asap. And no idea about Peabody -

thought I’d give an update on the little bits of information I received from the calls I made today!

Just heard back from IU. Accepted to audition in February!

We have not heard from Eastman yet either. Both our laptops died this week so we have been hyperventilating with the “umbilical cord” cut. Let’s hope we all get good news shortly.

More info: UCLA has not yet listened to Pre-screens (voice). I guess they’re waiting for the Jan 8 deadline?

Apparently a bunch of emails from Eastman went out this week and another bunch going out next week according to a faculty member.

Just heard no from Peabody and Cincinnati

Yes from Peabody! Waiting on NEC, J-yard, MSM (little issue with prescreening tape getting there, so that’s going to come later) -

auditions scheduled at Rice and Northwestern (regional) =)

Have been invited to audition at Manhattan school of music and NEC (Master of Music-Violin performance). Still waiting for Juilliard and Yale.

I have been playing the violin for 7 years, so being able to pass MSM and NEC are already VERY exciting for me. :)

aychoi84, I see you’re applying as a Masters student, and just want to post behind you to alleviate potential confusion.

In the interest of clarity I want to point out that the UNDERGRAD submission to Yale is a supplement, and while a factor in (music based) admissions it isn’t technically a prescreening, as no audition requirements are indicated for Yale’s Department of Music (not to be confused with the grad only program at Yale SOM which does require prescreens for consideration).

Those still confused should read this [Yale Department of Music > Undergraduate Program > Supplementary Materials](<a href=“Welcome | Department of Music”>Welcome | Department of Music)

Just trying to head off any misconceptions for those beginning to look through the forum for potential undergrad school choices.

Congrats on your prescreen passes, and good luck on Juilliard and Yale.

I do believe I remember reading that Eastman does their prescreens based on the audition date you choose so hopefully the first vocalists that heard were the 1/29 group and the 2/5 group will hear shortly.

Hi!
Have any vocalists heard from Peabody yet? Their website says mid-January, but I’m hoping to hear sooner so that I can figure out the next two months of my life (I have gotten auditions at the five schools I’ve heard from so far, and dreading scheduling conflicts! Peabody’s the last one I have to hear from)
It’s so nice to read what other people going through this process have to say! I love auditions!!!

D, soprano, heard “no” from Peabody yesterday by snail mail.

POTOMom: I don’t recall ever choosing an audition date… was that done with the app?

SopranoRose, might I offer a suggestion? You seem a bit unorganized, and I’d suggest you go back through all your materials and try and assemble some sort of spread sheet that lists schools, date everything was sent, deadline due dates as to what needs to be done (auditions, or audition apps, scheduling a lesson, etc.), and check off thinks that have already happened like prescreen yes or no’s, audition date confirmed, etc.

The same would apply to paperwork, financial aid deadlines, forms, etc. One you have chosen a school, I’d continue the process to include reply by date, housing deposit date, orientation sign up, etc.

It’s a daunting process, and even the most organized get befuddled. If I recall, you said there is not much parental involvement, but you have a broad support base here. If you want some ideas on hoe to set up a spreadsheet, I’ll try and pull up some past threads.

In addition to a big chart with deadlines, and potential audition dates, etc., I gave my son a pendeflex (sp?) file box with about 15 sections. One of those accordion things. We put hard copies of everything under each school. It has definitely helped.

Sopranorose,
I’m in the same boat as you are in terms of parents. I don’t know where else you applied, but I have a spreadsheet I’d be more than willing to email you if we have schools in common! I applied to Eastman (along with Rochester), Michigan, Northwestern, Oberlin (Conservatory and College) , Peabody (and JHU), Rice, and Yale.
Let me know!

D got Yes on Eastman prescreening! Came this afternoon.

Juilliard pre-screening is out, at least for double bass.

Just got an invite from Boston Conservatory!! That makes three auditions for me, I’m very excited!
