ESM, undergrad piano =)

We got a yes for live Jazz audition from the prescreen for Frost in very late Dec.

Saw discussion of video v audio. We did both as the sound quality of the video wasn’t good enough so sent some MP3 files with good sound quality.

Also got a yes for Jacobs. S

Gizmo, we have same audition date at Frost. S for alto sax.

Son’s Jazz teacher recommended S have new material for live audition. So far S will have a mix of old and new with some new ideas in the old material. Time is a major limiting factor here.

What are your thoughts/plans?

D was invited to audition at NEC - BM Jazz Studies voice

For BM in Classical Voice
I’ve received live audition dates for Oberlin and NEC.
I am still waiting for Purchase, MSM, and Juilliard.
A lot of people have received a reply for MSM already. I’m so nervous…

jazzmom2553: Jazz might be different, but in classical, many students use the same repertoire for both their prescreen and live auditions. S used same repertoire for both prescreen and live at all his schools and had favourable results at all.

Finally heard back from CIM today. Passed prescreening. Waiting on Northwestern now. Auditions for University of Michigan and UT Austin are all scheduled!

Jazzmom, a mixture is fine. My son used most of the same tunes for prescreens and live auditions and did fine.

some schools ask for the same repertoire

out of the 6 schools I applied only one did I actually do a pre-screening and that was Cornish, but I got accepted to the school based on that so I haven’t gone the the arduous process of having to go through two rounds…that would be annoying. the rest have been regional auditions or a DVD so no pre-screening was needed

but great job everyone and good luck, the end is near! for me at least got my oberlin audition on friday, can’t wait!

Good luck 18K

Anyone heard from Juilliard, Eastman, or Curtis (UG Voice)??

Getting nervous!

jazzmom,

Your son should check the audition requirements posted for each school. At least for some schools, my son has told me that he is required to perform different pieces in his live audition from what he submitted in prescreen. For example, NEC expressly states: “Pieces performed for the in-person audition should differ from those included on the prescreening recording.” Make sure he knows what is required at each school so he has enough time to prepare.

Has anyone heard from Mannes for undergrad BM in voice?

D called Eastman yesterday. Said they haven’t looked at flute prescreens yet.

rachelsoprano, we haven’t heard from Eastman yet. D going for UG voice. Wishing you the best.

called Northwestern today they said results won’t be out til end of NEXT week.

What?! That is really frustrating about Northwestern, especially because I requested either the 28th or 29th of this month. So if they come out next week, that’s less than three weeks notice. Sheesh.

Also, has anyone heard from University of Michigan? It seems odd that they would take so long, considering that they don’t prescreen.

MY D called UMich and was told “soon”.

I have heard from Oberlin, and Eastman. Anyone hear from Juilliard yet?
