presidential scholar

"I'm surprised. They must have been pretty typical applicant, then."

The girl didn't have great grades in school, but she did have a 1600 SAT. I've talked to her and she absolutely hates Michigan State (but she did get a full ride there). The guy had 36 ACT and 1600 SAT. On second thought, maybe they didn't get the award, but I'm sure they were both finalists, less prestigious but still quite an accomplishment.

Is there a list of cutoffs by state of past Presidential Scholars/Semifinalists' test scores available anywhere?

I don't think so....but it varies from year to year....

Wow dsmo. A 1600 is relatively common when we're talking about presidential scholars. How did she even get to finalist?

It's too bad that it has to be based on standardized test scores, especially when a 1580 rather than a 1590 can keep you out. Of course, maybe I'm just saying this because I'm disappointed that I probably won't even get an invitation because of my 1580.

does anyone know if there is a list of the cutoff scores for the various states available anywhere?

OMG IM SO IN I GOT A 2130, there's no way they'll refuse me....lol. Almost everyone in cali gets 2100+, i wish i bot a 2370 and got that award, that would be amazing.

wait... so you can't even apply they just nominate you by looking at SAT scores...? dumb

Wonder how many presidential scholars go to Ivies…95%?

Actually, according to the website with the list of them, relatively few plan to go Ivy:

LOL funkmasta. Actually I'm pretty sure that if you live in Cali you HAVE to get 800s on both the CR and math on the new SAT or old SAT to even be invited.
