I'm am going to apply to UConn because it is one of the schools that offers and actuarial science program. Also, I read about it's "presidential scholars." Basically, their site says valedictorians and salutatorians are given a "half to full tuition scholarship." Since I am ranked #1 in my class, I am able to get this. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about how they decide how much money to give out. I am oos so a half tuition scholarship would bring it down to about the amount I would be paying at many of the other places I am applying. Please share info if you have it. Thank you.

Hm... I thought val=full tuition and sal=half tuition, but that wording ("half *to *full tuition scholarship...") makes me think twice. I think it would be best if you called the office of financial aid and asked them about it.
