No, I have not received the scholarship. But fingers crossed I will tomorrow! This is for people who have questions about the program or who actually won! If you did get it, would you mind posting a few of your stats and a brief summary on your essays? That would be very much appreciated!
No one will “receive” the scholarship tomorrow. They are announcing candidates invited to interview as Semifinalists on February 20th. Then there will be a much smaller subset of people invited to a Finalists Weekend in April. From that group they will select the scholarship recipients. (Info from Georgia Tech’s website.)
I know. Thanks for catching that! I should have worded it differently.
I’ve got a friend who won it back in 2012. 4.68 UW GPA, 2150 SAT.
Has anyone been able to access their decision? When I try to log in the page just routes me back to the “what kind of admission decision” page – like freshman, non degree, etc.
@server456 Same thing with me. http://admission.gatech.edu/Check-Application-Status says we will find out through email, not My Decision
Shoot, ok. Has anyone gotten an email?
That’s true. But it’s weird that they first sent out an email to everyone saying it would be on the My Decision page. Is everyone going to receive an email, whether you’re semifinalist or not?
Lol I’m trying to occupy myself right now to prevent from refreshing my email like crazy!!!
Got an email. Did not become a semifinalist.
Yeah got an email rejection too
Yeah, didn’t make it. Congrats to all who advanced though!!
Ahhh I made it ?my grades are not the best though so I’m a little in shock right now. Maybe it was because of extracurriculars?? Regardless i probably won’t make it to later rounds oh well
How does it work now for the OOS Provost’s Scholarships? I would assume they would be chosen out of the 300 Presidential semifinalists? Or is that completely separate?
It’s separate
@Suvleena Which one offers more money for out of state students? The presidential doesn’t provide a full ride for oos state right, it just decreases cost to 11k per yer. The provost scholarship offers 80k for four years but with tution of 50K for oos per year it doesnt even decrease price to instate levels. thanks.
@collegedreamer1 wait presidential doesn’t cover full tuition for out of state???
The provost’s covers only the OOS portion of the tuition, so you essentially would pay in-state tuition and room and board / fees. The president’s is the full meal deal, plus drink and dessert.
@ConcertoinD @fjsjakdkckckc look under frequently asked questions of the presidential scholarship.
What constitutes a full President’s Scholarship at Georgia Tech? Is a President’s Scholarship full ride?
A President’s Scholarship (PS) includes all tuition and fees, including meals and base housing. For in-state students, part of this is expected to be the Zell Miller/HOPE Scholarship provided by the State of Georgia.
For out-of-state students, this includes a tuition waiver, which reduces the cost of tuition to the same as that of an in-state student. View the estimated Cost of Attendance.
For Stamps Leadership Scholars, funds for personal expenses and books as well as $15,000 over four years toward enrichment activities including international academically oriented travel and unpaid research or internships are included. Stamps Scholars also receive an $1,100 stipend for the purchase of a laptop.
