In order to get the presidential scholarship, do you need to be named a presidential scholar? I know one person who earned the presidential scholarship throughout college, but she wasn't a presidential scholar. How does one go about doing that then?

You may be confusing the Presidential scholarships that COLLEGES award with the national one.

Many colleges award a big scholarships that THEY call the Presidential Scholarship. The award might be for full tuition or half tuition. Those schools get to define what stats are needed for their own award.

I believe it’s named for the College President, like a Dean’s Scholarship…

bumppp

Why did you bump this? Your question was answered in posts # 1 and #2.

To be even clearer, there is no scholarship that has anything to do with the President of the United States. The requirements for any particular college’s presidential scholarship, which is named for the president of that college, not of the country, will likely be discussed on the college’s website. Do you get it now?

@MommaJ, not completely true. The US Presidential Scholars program is a national program. However it is a recognition program with no cash award attached. Kids do get a cool trip to DC and get to meet various dignitaries.

So, it’s not a scholarship, which is what OP asked about.
