Presidential scholarships

If you earn a presidential scholarship to a college, does this count towards your overall fee or just tuition? Or does it vary from college to college? I want to try to earn a scholarship from A private college but I'm not sure what this would counts toward (specifically, loyola maryland). If anyone knows much about their financial aid policies please let me know as well. Thanks!!!!!!

It depends on the Presidential Scholarship amount. In the vast majority of cases, this goes to tuition and fees first. Most of these scholarships are not enough money per year to also cover room/board at a private university.

What exactly is your concern?

Are you asking if Loyola Maryland awards you THEIR Presidential Scholarship what would it be used for? If so, then LM decides that. What does their website say?

why are you concerned about what it gets used for?

Yes, that is what I’m asking. The website didn’t specify.

So what is your concern? If the scholarship gets applied to tuition, will that hurt you in some way???

During the 2013-14 year, awards will range from $12,500 to $25,000. All Presidential Scholarships are awarded for four years provided the student maintains the term and cumulative GPA requirements and credit completion requirements stated in the original scholarship award letter.

Sounds like the award is for an amount…not specified for tuition. You should email the scholarship office and ask…save the response.

What Presidential Scholarship are you talking about? Many colleges have awards that they call the Presidential Scholarships, with every kind feature. Depends on what program.
