Prestige or major?

ok, I'm a student planning on transferring to UCLA however my major is one the most impacted major at the school (communications)! so i was thinking about applying to UCLA with a less competetive major because UCLA is my dream school and living in LA gives yu so many oppurtunities in careers..... which one is better having communications degree from a not so prestige school like a cal state or just getting a degree from UCLA????

I say UCLA.

I was looking to transfer to California for the longest time and recently decided against it
Their budget is so messed up and the school systems are so bankrupted that if you are out of state even with a 4.0 it is virtually impossible to get in to california state schools and their private universities are seeing such mass applications it will be very difficult. It’s even difficult for in-state students (I’ve heard even for those coming from community college in CA with a transfer agreement… because of all the troubles)

I was looking at communications at UCLA myself and i wouldnt go into a major that you dont want just to attend the school. I say look for a school with that major that you will be able to get into and succeed in and then maybe UCLA for grad school if california and UCLA is your dream?

Go for what your heart tells you  transferring is a mean business and you just gotta do whats right for you so you end up happy

But honestly I was in your position just a few weeks ago and I opted out of CA for now. I am going to look at LA again for grad school or something because it is definitely a great city for great opportunities but what I found is it isn’t the only one and LA will always be there

Reach!

I think “fit” or major would be a better question. As in, if you like one school way more than another, it might be worth going there under another major. This is only assuming you also like the other major a lot. If you love your major and don’t want to change it, then go with the other school.
