<p>Well it’d be better if you had more leadership positions but nevertheless, you’ve got great stuff. Great GPA, SAT’s.
HYPS is a crapshot for everyone, but you stand a chance.
Columbia, Brown, Cornell, MIT are no different, but looking at what you have, I wouldn’t doubt it all.
JHU is a straight in, and not that different from Duke.</p>

<p>I agree with Honorlions. You have tremendous stats–GPA and SATs are spectacular, extracurriculars are superb, you’re well-rounded to the point of genius. But of course, HYPSM are all a crapshoot, but I guarantee that you’d get into at least three of them. The “20 under 20” thing really pushed you into the other ones, I’d imagine. Congrats!</p>

<p>This is in response to your PM :slight_smile: I think you have a good chance but it’s really going to come down to tiny subjective factors, like essays and recs. Your ECs are great, but it sort of does seem like you’re doing all of this just for the sake of a college app (it might not be, but it sort of appears that way when you’ve got them grouped like a laundry list) Being Asian, you definitely need to single yourself out from the rest of the pool with memorable essays and good recs. Objectively, you are fantastic… but the Ivies are always unpredictable.

<p>I think you have a great shot at all the schools listed, but it’s fairly unpredictable. The only thing that’s against you is your ethnicity.</p>

<p>I definitely see where you’re coming from with the “laundry list.” For me, I’ve always wanted to go into biology (such as M.D/PhD) while continuing serving in community service and music endeavors for the rest of my life… possibly even work in NGOs like Doctors Without Borders? With this in mind, I tried to broaden my horizon as much as I could – hence the service clubs, the music competitions, and the research internships! </p>

<p>I really hope I do not come across like the typical Asian stereotype on my application… do you have any suggestions to steer away from this stereotype other than writing a unique and truthful essay? ^___^</p>

<p>You certainly have wonderful odds wherever you apply. It appears that you have remarkably thrived despite the potential difficulties associated with diversity. I hope that you mention your extensive moving and worldly experiences on your applications, as it will indeed provide a set of conditions for your fantastic achievements. </p>

<p>In terms of demonstrated academic focus, I would emphasize your biological pursuits. As for the “laundry list” of items that you include, I feel that those would be better suited for a supplement resume to be submitted apart from the main application (perhaps loaded onto the “Additional Information” section). Use the application portion to convey a particular theme to your application.</p>

if you get siemens/intel, even first round, id bump that to 4+ =p
I had much less service than you, 3 fewer aps than you (im assuming youll get 5s this year =p), and a 2400, but thats not much diff from a 2380.
You also have allstate flute, which is kind of a big deal</p>

<p>You have incredible stats–so relax! So of course, your credentials are going to all be listed on your record, but I think the important thing is to not boast them all, especially in the essay (they can all be mentioned in the interview, though). The Essay is the where you come down to who you are in words. You have a ton of great activities, so I am not sure where your greatest point is (there are many, after all, but choose just one). </p>

<p>Sadly, there are no guarantees. HYP/Stanford are reaches for anyone, but you have a good shot. Good Luck!</p>
