Wow she’s so impressive. Which one is she going to pick? Caltech or Columbia or Princeton?

Thank you! We want her to pick Caltech, but she wants Princeton…

Both are good choices. Are you planning to attend admitted students days in either of the colleges?

If she goes to UMD CS, she will absolutely love it. Much better than UVA in my opinion.

Yes, Caltech. By the way, congrats to your daughter - very exciting to be accepted to the top engineering schools in the world!

Son denied for engineering.

1560 SAT, 3.98 GPA, Class VP, Civil Air Patrol Officer, NHS, AP Scholar, 3 Varsity Sports, Tutor, other ECs.

He sadly has not been accepted at any “reach” or “target” school he has applied to. Even denied or waitlisted at several “safety” schools. Its been a very tough admission cycle. Was at a dinner for accepted students at another college last Sunday and had two kids who took gap years last year at his table. Just got buried in the number of applicants this cycle.

Congrats to all who were accepted. Good luck in your Princeton careers!

I am so sorry about your kid’s disappointment. She seems like a smart and talented student. UMD is a great choice for CS. We live nearby, and D22, although accepted for music, is a Blair magnet student and has lots of CS buddies. CS admission is not easy – congrats!! And, it is an excellent program. Also, living here, I never thought much of the campus because I only saw fringes of it, but I’m glad we did the tour. Really loved it. I’m guessing UVA and Tech might be in state and therefore cheaper, but I believe UMD has the better program. Lots of top Blair kids there. She will be in good company if she goes!

We heard lot of rejects from our school except 1 WL and 2 accepts (of that one kid got into 5 ivys he applied). Most are still happy with their choices, all got into either public OOS or UC. Life moves on. Congrats to all those who got accepted.

Is there a parents group for Fall 2022?

After May 1, they can join Princeton parents on facebook

Has Princeton offered any full rides this admission cycle?

All financial aid at Princeton (and the other Ivy League schools) is based on financial need. Which is to say that, yeah, certainly some students will have received a full ride, but they’re not merit scholarships, if that’s what you’re asking.

There’s no such thing. If an admitted student needs full room and board and even incidentals based on demonstrated financial need then they would be offered that. All aid is need-based.

Why do you think CMU SCS is better a choice than Princeton CS?

Anyone here on the WL? If so, has anyone heard back with a decision yet? They stated movement starts early May but I’ve heard it can begin earlier than that.
