Congrats to those who got in or are waitlisted. We had a bloodbath here. All rejections from Ivies. It’s like a horror movie over here. :grinning:

Rejected. Daughter is incredibly talented. Wants to study computer science. 4.0 unweighted, 4.5 weighted, #1 in class, but run-of-the-mill extracurriculars and negligible community service. I didn’t read the essays so have no idea how she did there. She visited CMU last summer and applied early decision but was rejected in December having not applied to any other schools. She then did some quick internet research for the top cs schools near where her boyfriend is going to study and decided to apply to Columbia, UPenn and Princeton and her back up schools, Va Tech, UVA and UMD. Rejected by Princeton and UPenn and wait listed at Columbia for spring semester. It would have been a miracle if she had gotten in. She is devastated. She thought she could beat the odds. I tried to discuss the realities of getting into these schools, but the heart wants what the heart wants. She was accepted at Va Tech and UMD and was wait listed at UVA. If she doesn’t get off the wait list at UVA, she will go to UMD, which has a highly ranked cs program.
