Princeton Class of 2018 RD Discussion Thread

No I’m going for biology and in 10th grade I’d taken combined science (All 3 sciences but only 1 paper). I was in IGCSE so I got all A stars, 94%. Even if it doesn’t mean anything its quite exciting because I get to send them the good grades!

Maybe they wanted to know your performance in each science since the grade was for 3 combined sciences? Well it’s good that you did well! I’d be extremely happy if I were you since Pton has obviously made an effort to look you up.

Guys I still haven’t gotten the confirmation email from Princeton… but I submitted it like a week late. Also, I wanna do an arts supp, but since I have no confirmation, and ergo no access to the princeton portal, I can’t. And it’s already like a week past the deadline. Tried calling, the office wasn’t really helpful. They just kept putting me on hold. What should i do?

call again and wait till you can talk to a person - the office will put someone knowledgeable on the line eventually. You can also email as well and see which way you get an answer more promptly. Given your situation, no one on this website can give you an answer - only Princeton can do that.

Does anybody’s portal still say that their SAT II scores haven’t been received? I sent mine in November and they’re still being reported as missing…

Hi!

I am applying for regular decision (Indian applicant) and I have interview scheduled for next week.

@akash the interview will be very informal. Best of luck.

P.S. I too am indian-deferred

Hey
I havent received any interview offer… So does it mean they are just not interested in me… ? I mean, can you get rejected before even having an interview?
Thanks

@nikrules: Thanks! Hope you get the offer.

sunny: the interview process is on a different track than what’s happening in NJ. Reports are typically due early March. How your file has or hasn’t progressed is independent of the interview process up to and until an interview write up is filed. Remember, Pton doesn’t know which people eventually get interviewed. The reports come in to supplement their other deliberations.

No one is actually rejected until March 27, however. Are files being sorted and candidates being eliminated even now? Likely.

@Akash thanks and same to you.

@sunny the process of Interviews is completely based on your location and alumni concentration so no need to worry

Hey guys, am applying from India and I just got a call for interview via Skype on the coming Saturday…totally excited…any last-minute advice?

Well mine was very informal. We even used Hindi phrases. Dont worry just prepare a little about youself because the first qs will be to describe yourself. so prepare something striking.

Thanks T26E4 and nikrules!

Princeton interview tonight! Meh… We’ll see how it goes.

Hey guys, I have my Princeton interview tomorrow. I am kind of curious if I should ask my interviewer how he sees Princeton’s grading policy. He graduated in 92 so he never experienced it, what do you think? And what do you think of P’s grading policy in general? :)

I think it’s unfair that not everyone who does A-level work in a class gets an A. Princeton is looking into changing it, though. They are losing a lot of students to Harvard/Yale/Stanford because of it.

I would not ask about grading policy in the interview. Some of us like it:).

Wouldn’t it show them that you’ve done the research on Princeton? I would ask about their opinion on it, but show that you support that kind of academic setting.

I actually asked my interviewer about grading policy. He graduated before it was introduced and told me about his opinion and experience with grading.
