Princeton Class of 2027 Official Thread

where’s best to send an update letter - as an additional file uploaded through applicant portal or an email to the admissions office, or emailed to your regional ao?

I’d suggest sending the update to your regional admission officer.

Also, in response to a couple of earlier questions/comments:

It’s impossible to predict the chances of getting off the waitlist. From an historical perspective the chances are slim – in many years Princeton hasn’t taken anybody off the list – but they’re not zero and it’s certainly worth a try. [Edit: see next post for recent waitlist admission data.]

Also, although waitlisted Princeton applicants should consider sending a letter to report any recent notable achievements, they shouldn’t visit the campus (or perhaps even send a letter) solely to demonstrate interest – Princeton doesn’t track visits and notes in its Common Data Set report that “level of applicant’s interest” is not considered in the admission process.

Since I was curious, I looked up Princeton’s waitlist data for the past 6 admission cycles. During that time, the admission rate for students who accepted a spot on the waitlist has ranged from 0% to 15%.

2021-2022: 15% (150/1000)
2020-2021: 3% (26/598)
2019-2020: 0.1% (1/668)
2018-2019: 0% (0/844)
2017-2018: 12% (101/826)
2016-2017: 2% (18/840)

THANK YOU!!
I’m an international from the UK, so my system is a little different. But here they are
SAT-1600 (done in 2019/freshman year in the American HS terms)
4 A-levels with all A* predictions.
My ECS and Essays were very mediocre hence why I’m still shocked from this acceptance haha!!

Accepted yesterday, was also my top choice! Went TO and had a 3.95/4.77 GPA

"Congratulations on being admitted to Princeton’s Class of 2027! We write to you today about our on-campus program in April.

Our colleagues in the Undergraduate Financial Aid Office advised us you might appreciate financial assistance to attend our Princeton Preview program. We would like to offer to cover travel and lodging expenses for you and one parent or guardian. If you take us up on this offer, our travel agents will arrange flights/trains, ground transportation and a hotel stay for you and your parent or guardian. Alternatively, you are welcome to travel without your parent or guardian, and we will cover the associated costs.

If you are interested in receiving this financial assistance, please complete the Travel Assistance Form below as soon as possible and no later than Thursday, April 6. We are unable to accommodate requests received after this deadline. Due to the timing of the Preview Programs, we will aim to have you arrive the day prior to Preview (either Monday, April 10 or Monday, April 17) and you will be hosted overnight in an area hotel.

Congratulations again, and we hope to see you on campus soon!

Sincerely,

Princeton Preview Travel Team

I am an international student from East Africa. I just checked my email and realized that I was waitlisted. It is advisable to send an email to my regional admission officer informing them that I am still interested?

Is there a discord?

What state? We are from Austin area and it is same for us. But my cousin’s daughter got in .

Yes, it’s known as a Letter of Continued Interest. Let them know that if accepted, Princeton is your top choice and you will definitely attend (if that is the case),

Hi I’m also a UK student applying to Princeton, could you please share your EC’s and stats a bit more? Along with any advice you could give, thanks!

One of the instructions on the Statement for waitlisted students was that they do not need any other information. So should I send the LOCI to my regional admission officer directly?

That would probably be the right move. Thats what we did for UChicago a couple years ago (eventually getting off the WL, they only took 6 that year) and seems to be common advise. Best of luck.

Thank you for the advice.

Is anyone here attending Princeton Preview Day on April 11 without parents?

Is the regional admissions officer the one assigned to the county of your home address or the county from where your school is located? Both are different counties and have different AOs.

Hello, I am Uganda (East Africa). I only saw one regional admission officer assigned for the entire Africa. Hope she is the one I am supposed to send my updates to.

I think it is the school but you school counselor should be able to clarify for you.
