Princeton ED Lounge

do i still read harry potter u mean?

I don't know about your school, but where I live... it's fairly common for teachers and students alike to read it.

uh oh...I feel that Potter pest coming back up again. slithers into the shadows

Ooh Ooh! I like this potential discussion. Right now, my top choices for study abroad are:

University of Cape Town (Princeton)
Institute of Political and Social Sciences in Paris, France (Princeton)

and maybe...
Tanzania (Brown)
Cuba (University of Havana)

Hey, I read it! I actually did a 45 page thesis on the use of magic/origins of myth in Harry Potter. So don't tell me they're not cool, lol. Of course they're cool. =)

Edit: Sounds like fun, ilcapo! I'd be hoping for Cape Town or France ;)

a...45...page...thesis? chokes

Haha, I know it's not a lot for a "thesis," but for a high school one, it's okay....

hahaha go kebree! =) i had a friend who wrote her IB extended essay on harry potter, and since it's modern culture, she tied it in with classic english literature. it was great.

not a lot? That's longer than anything I've ever even come close to writing. I can't wait to write my thesis in graduate school...

the crowd goes wild for kebree

Oh, I thought you meant it wasn't long enough to be called a thesis, haha....well, I feel better now. I thought that (once again) I was exposed for what I was amid a crowd of overachievers....

Psshaw! Not at all. I marvel at your accomplishment. Once again I am reminded that I am floating among a crowd of overachievers, heh.

and Phil...you won't have to wait 'til grad school...Princeton requires one of all AB students in senior year, remember. :)

whoa...things get blurry head spins falls to ground

How on earth did that slip my mind? Especially when I rave about it to people whenever they want to know why I chose Princeton...weirdosity...

yeah...that thesis is going to be hella fun... (a bunch of people will roll their eyes)....but I actually like writing, so it was something I read about and thought, "YES! This is my school! All right!"
Plus that Harry Potter one was so much fun....

so how long are the senior theses supposed to be?

I've got to spend less time browsing these boards- its detrimental to calculus and physics homework. However, beleive it or not, this is my first post in the ED Lounge. lol.

Anyway, BSEs do a different take on the thesis, so hah! If I get in I will have to write less than u guys do. AB ones are usually about 150 pages or so. Wait- if I minor in poly sci do I have to write another thesis?

I think you have to write something, but certainly not a thesis. That'd be a little difficult.

Yeah, BSE's usually work with a professor on a research project created by the student and report their findings (which I guess is kind of like a thesis, anyways).

the senior theses are really long...i dont wanna write one haha im so lazy

Wow...check out our post count: 12,577

insane.

and our very own ED Lounge has more posts than Brown's whole forum, lol.

you have more posts than brown. how's that for perspective.
