I realized after I submitted my Princeton app that I double spaced my essay, even though they say "Please do not double space your essay". Are my chances pretty much hopeless now or will it not matter? :/

WHAT, where does it say that…dammmmm i doubled spaced mine.

nm, found where it says it. OMG i’m screwed. i was so caught up in picking a topic that i skimmed over that part. ■■■

i know its quite unfortunate.

i have a feeling its just a “saving paper” thing, so hopefully it won’t be a reason to deny.

mine was a page double spaced so it wouldn’t have mattered if i single spaced it…god i hope its just to save paper

OMG! Where does it say that? I double-spaced mine.

never mind. found it too. this is so sad. it only says that on the commonapp, not on the supplement PDF. =(

grrrr. lets just say if i get rejected, i know what i’m blaming it on :/

Via, I’m just going to call them tomorrow. I know this is going to bother me all night.

can you tell me what they say!?!?!

fersure - I’ll post an edit tomorrow morning.

yay, thanks so much

I’m still shocked I missed the bold “do not double space” part…until tomorrow…

…what?

This does demonstrate that you have a hard time reading directions, but if you are rejected from Princeton, it will not be because you double-spaced your essay. I’d think before you called, too. If I were an admissions officer (and I’m not), I would think you were being pretty needy for calling me about whether or not your essay was double-spaced.

i know that it wouldn’t be b/c of double spacing the essay but it’d just be a defense mechanism

well, Wishy Washy, I had other questions so I called anyway.

and??? what did they say about it?

please everyone… calm down.

well, regarding the double-space question, they said that it’s not that big of a deal. it’s easier for them to read when it’s single-spaced, but the content of your essay matters way more than it’s formatting. she said to let it go and relax cuz it’s understandable that students are under a lot of stress.

Thank you, referee!
That’s reassuring. Good luck!
