This is going way back to the stuff about the pfaa (I applied scea too) and I was looking through forums about receiving the email for financial aid (I received it too) and last year for regular decisions some were accepted some waitlisted and some denied. So I don’t know if it means anything. Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble! (Including my own) I also saw that some people who were accepted and didn’t have everything filled out never got the email.
@mediokra
Certainly not to wreck anyone’s excitement who received the email about pfaa or the Q1 grade request, but I sort of agree with @Pianomonster20 . I doubt Princeton would give away acceptance/rejection/deferment before the official release in any way — including these minor things. That’s my personal opinion, but with such little data (and the “data” we do have is shady and easily could be falsified by anonymous CC users who don’t want to admit their rejection to strangers online), I wouldn’t spend too much time worrying about getting an email/not getting an email or getting Q1 request/not getting Q1 request. You will only torture yourself with the what if scenarios. Wednesday is only a few days away! Speculation and angst over the email or grades will drive you towards madness. Breathe, and be proud of the accomplishments that even allow you to be considering these prestigious universities in the first place! Good luck to everyone; I’ve enjoyed the informal discussion about the favorite parts of the application and more.
Wow, those are some good answers to the special memento. I didn’t think too hard about those- I know that at USC, they do a similar “quick takes” section, but they always say that it won’t make the difference between acceptance and rejection. I said my favorite book was Slaughterhouse Five, and my favorite quote was from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest- “All I know is this: nobody’s very big in the first place, and it looks to me like everybody spends their whole life tearing everybody else down.”
What did you guys put as your favorite website?
(Shameless plug - sorry: I put my blog, go check it out at tanzerina dot weebly dot com !)
look at the pages at the end of this thread

Yes, like I said before, because there is simply not any good nor concrete evidence to support if PFAA/Q1 email is good, bad, or neutral, those of us who received the email should just be excited that Princeton contacted them. That’s about all there is to it.
I really like that quote, @notagoddess1208 !
Also, @Pianomonster20 that’s for the PFAA pfaa Hough… Were you able to find any rejections for the people who were asked for their Q1 grades? I could only find accepts/defers, but I could have missed some.
@mediokra I didn’t look into the Q1 grades partially because I have no idea if my Q1 grades were asked for b/c I don’t really talk to my guidance counselor, but I should drop by her office on Monday… I’ll keep looking
@Tanzerina The New Yorker
Well a while ago I looked at data about Q1 request for the past 3 years (just because I was bored and anxious, not because it necessarily means anything). I probably missed some people, but from all 3 years combined, 7 were accepted and 2 were deferred. In addition, 2 people provided second-hand accounts of their friends who got requests and were admitted.
So as you can see, the sample size is extremely small here. But it’s also important to note that I got data from everyone who said they received a request (in other words, nobody who said they got a request refused to comment their decision somewhere). There isn’t any conclusive evidence from this, but I hope this keeps people occupied while we wait. For me at least, collecting this “data” is oddly therapeutic haha
For my favorite website I put: thebluealliance.com (its this big stats website for the FIRST robotics program)
Also recording was super vague, so I put a sentimental video recording of me with the founder of FIRST Robotics. I was super hypedd
Yeah, I guess my username is pretty accurate
Anybody know if Princeton will look at SAT scores that aren’t accompanied by an essay, as long as you have at least one SAT with essay?
I got a 1530 with the essay and then a 1570 without. I sent both scores, but I’m still not sure if they looked at the latter.
@amduses Someone correct my if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure they won’t look at the second score if not with essay.
@Amduseus @HelloThereHola i think they would it wouldn’t make sense if they didn’t since they superscore
http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/1545643-will-princeton-not-even-look-at-my-act-without-writing.html I am not sure, but I think this thread comes to a conclusion that you have to have writing.
Edit: nevermind haha I don’t even know because of the last message, and plus this is for act
I read the same thread haha I was referring to the last response on it '“everything I send in will be considered” as long as I submit the ACT with writing on it."
My fav quote: The mark of an immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one." Catcher In the Rye
Hmm… interesting, thanks. I did call admissions at one point and they also said that anything I sent in would be considered, but honestly, I’m still a little paranoid. I just hope those 40 points didn’t go to waste!
@ZetaIntegration I love that quote! Have you read any of Salinger’s other stuff? He’s awesome.
My quote was “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” - Man’s Search for Meaning
I’m not sure if it was kind of cliche, but I think it’s a very personally relevant quote and went along with one of my essays.
