My HS counselor told me that (at Princeton at least) even though we don’t know our class ranks, the admissions officers do so that they can better compare the EA apps
So does the decision just show up in our portals at 3pm EST? Can’t find any threads about how Princeton does it!
@pandabear68 in the email Princeton sent, they said your decision will appear in the portal
@orgooo That’s interesting–how do the admissions officers get access to those ranks? Do your GCs just send them?
My school doesn’t rank at all with the exception of valedictorian and salutatorian at the end of each year for the seniors. I had always assumed they just reported our decile.
@Amduseus my school ranks us, but doesn’t release the rankings too us bc we’re already too competitive lol (and yes the GC’s send them, I’m not sure if they send overall class ranks or if they just rank the EA apps for each school against each other)
Does ranking really matter that much? My school ranks, but they don’t weight AP/IB courses into it and it drops a lot of those kids (including me).
@anonymous1418 I don’t really think so. Ranking is so dependent on the school and other students which we have no control over. What I think matters more is showing success in a rigorous course load.
Another applicant in my school received a request to send his quarter report, but I didn’t receive mine. Is it a bad sign? Although I’m not 100% sure if I really didn’t receive that request or my counselor didn’t tell me or she sent my quarter report before it is asked or she got it on Friday after she went off to enjoy her weekend. (I’m international so it is possible that if I received a request on Friday, my counselor probably wouldn’t see it until Monday, which is the 11th lol) Really nervous now.
My GPA shows a constantly increasing trend from 9th to 11th grade. My current progress grade is good but not as high as it was in 11th grade, if it matters.
Also, is it true that Princeton defers the majority of applicants? Looking at last year’s SCEA results, it seems like everyone either got accepted or deferred. Is it because Princeton don’t typically reject students in this round unless that person is not competitive at all? Or is it only because those who are rejected right away didn’t want to share their results with the community?
@WildChickenU everybody who isnt accepted is instantly deferred to regular decesion
@nigerianfencer I’m not sure if that’s true… I’m pretty sure some are definitely just denied, but there aren’t many of these kids. Wednesday can’t come soon enough.
@WildChickenU I’m sure it’s not too big of a deal, but if it makes you feel better, go ask your counselor. I think we’ve established in this thread that a request for Q1 grades could mean a number of things, but we’re not exactly sure which one it is. If your GPA shows a constant increase, then the admissions officers will view that favorably. Also, I’m pretty sure there are people who get rejected. I read somewhere that Pton has about an 80% deferral rate so there are people who get rejected. I’m assuming that those who get rejected are people who wouldn’t even stand a chance in the regular admission pool.
On the Princeton website: “If you apply early action, there are three possible outcomes for your admission decision. We will either:
Offer admission.
Deny admission.
Or, defer a final decision on the application and review it again in the regular decision process.”
How are YOU getting ready for Princeton SCEA decision date 2k17? I’m rereading my applications and essays to see if there were any gaps or errors that could have led to my possible rejection
@university2022 I’m gonna be writing supplements for other applications lol. I’m probably gonna get deferred in the end anyway. Also, I wouldn’t reread your application. It’s done and you can’t do anything about it now.
@university2022 me too! I’m so paranoid that I wrote something wrong or somehow turned in the wrong document
@orgooo I was joking! Turn off your computer and listen to some music or something
What do you guys think are the chances of someone who has won an award at Intel ISEF?
@university2022 i’m trying :((
@puppertupper Can’t chance you based on just that!
@university2022 Lolol I’m baking batches and batches of cookies to try and keep my spirits up before Wednesday
